How do you “pick up” mid afternoon?

Make sure you include a couple servings of healthy fat per meal—foods like avocados, MCT oil, wild-caught salmon, nuts, and seeds are brain food. My brain worked pretty well before, but embracing fat pushed my mental clarity through the roof!
But if our children go to school with a breakfast of Coke or colored sugar water and Doritos or Flaming Hot chips how can we expect them to focus or pay attention?
These are not foods. They are food-like substances with no nutritional benefit.
This diet creates an “achievement gap” because kids are too sick to learn—and affects far more kids of color than any other group. These kids are less likely to go to college, earn good incomes, and more likely to get sick and die young.
One in 10 of our kids are on ADD medication. And the science shows the junk our kids eat is a big part of the cause.
The food industry spends $10 billion on marketing junk food to our kids every year. The average kid sees over 6,000 ads for junk food and soda on TV and even more through social media. And minorities and African American kids are targeted more aggressively. These companies are junk food pushers.
How do you get your kids to eat healthier?
They most likely want to eat whatever it is you’re eating. Marketing healthy food to your young eater is a chance for you to think like a kid again.
Getting your child interested in the kitchen is easy if you turn on your creativity and appeal to their interests! When I wanted to encourage healthy eating in my children I realized that it wasn’t as simple as saying “eat your spinach because it is good for you.” I had to get them interested and excited.
I’m sure you can relate to having a picky eater or an eater who goes through a picky phase. Either way, make your food come alive in the eyes of your child and you will be very pleased with the end results.

Day after Super Bowl....everyone had a little "too much" of everything yesterday, am I right?
But what if you’re eating chemicals DAILY that are even more fattening than your cheese dip?
Obesogens are exactly what they sound like… chemicals that can cause obesity.
More specifically, they’re “endocrine disruptors” that really mess with your hormones!
Most obesogens bind with estrogen hormones, causing an excess amount and weight gain in both men and women.
Or worse…many other obesogens can cause more severe issues like breast cancer, birth defects in newborns, and demasculinization in men.
A common ingredient in many store-bought dish soap, parabens have also been found to disrupt hormones. Dish soaps that contain parabens result in effects ranging from itchy, irritated skin all the way to reproductive issues and cancer risk…
Switching to a non-toxic Dish Soap that works just as well is a great way to avoid exposure to parabens.
Triclosan is super common in dishwashing detergent and is used to kill bacteria on your dishes. It’s also EXTREMELY toxic! Apart from being an obesogen that mimics estrogen and potentially causes weight gain, it has also been linked to numerous human health problems. And guess what? Exposures are mainly caused by absorption through the lining of the mouth. Which means it sticks to your dishes…then your food…and then your mouth!
It’s highly suggested to switch to a Non-Toxic Dishwasher Soap to avoid absorbing ANY of this highly toxic chemical!
Phthalates are chemicals used to make plastics soft and flexible.
They are usually found in food containers, toys, and beauty products, but they're also a common chemical in store-bought dishwasher rinse aids. (We suggest using a non-toxic rinse aid instead) Just like BPA, phthalates are endocrine disruptors that affect the hormonal balance in your body, specifically hormones that are more involved with metabolism.
4.) Bisphenol-A (BPA)
If you’ve ever been advised to only buy plastic bags that are “BPA-Free”, this is what they’re talking about. BPA binds to estrogen receptors in the body and has been linked to weight gain and obesity. It also ends up affecting many newborns, as over 96% of pregnant women on average test positive for BPA in their urine.
It’s most commonly found in plastic bags, plastic sponges, plastic bottles, and canned food, so be sure to read the label on whatever you buy to make sure it says “BPA-Free".
Atrazine is a herbicide that also affects hormones. It’s so harmful to humans and the environment that it’s actually banned in Europe, but not the U.S. (go figure…)
In fact, many areas of the country that are afflicted with atrazine also have much higher obesity rates!

Looking to lose some weight? Take a look at your sugar intake. People for so long have gotten it confused. Fat is not our enemy. 😉 In fact, we need healthy fats in our diet!
Sugar is the culprit of weight gain. It’s hidden in so many places that people don’t always realize. Salads dressings, ketchup, sauces, drinks and breads. Keep an eye on those labels, you will be surprised.
