We want all our youth to have a happy and healthy summer! We’ve had a lot of questions recently and just wanted to clear up some confusion about COVID boosters. Stay safe and have fun!

· COVID-19 vaccine boosters can further enhance or restore protection that might have waned over time after your primary series vaccination.

· People are protected best from severe COVID-19 illness when they stay up to date with their COVID-19 vaccines, which includes a booster for many people.

· CDC recommends that everyone ages 5 years and older get their primary series of COVID-19 vaccine, and everyone ages 12 years and older also receive a booster.

Dear GTW/YM Health and Wellness family,

As we continue to adjust to our new normal, we just want to take a moment to remind you that we are still open 5 days a week and available to meet all your healthcare needs. Your safety (and the safety of our staff) remains our top priority. At this time, we are not allowing anyone with known COVID-19 exposure into our office (in-car screening), and anyone with respiratory symptoms is being screened before being allowed into the building. Once screening has been completed, patients are escorted directly to the exam room where they will interact with one medical assistant and one medical provider.

We are here for all of your other needs as well. If you are not sure whether or not you need to come in for an in-person appointment, just call or send a portal message! While all providers are available via telehealth, some concerns still need an old-fashioned, in-person appointment. We will accommodate you as best as we can. Please know that we’ve done our best to keep the office environment safe and COVID-19 free.

We are all in this together; thanks for your continued support!

We are currently experiencing trouble with our phone system and are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience. If you are a patient and need to reach our office please send us a message via your secure patient portal. Thank you.

Did you know that last month was Men's Health Month?

"The purpose of Men’s Health Month is to heighten the awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys. This month gives health care providers, public policy makers, the media, and individuals an opportunity to encourage men and boys to seek regular medical advice and early treatment for disease and injury."

Often times it’s stemmed from having so many rules around food that it’s difficult to come up with meals that are enjoyable. On the blog I explain what I consider necessary elements to a creative and healthy lunch, plus 3 delicious ideas simple enough to quickly assemble during the week.⠀⠀⠀

I’ve been working with many people over the last few weeks about social anxiety & the holidays. Many people report seeing family (they don’t normally see) induces more anxiety than anything else this season. If you have anxiety, practice your strategies. If you DON’T have anxiety, please refrain from giving kids, teens and adults a hard time if they need to take a break from the group for 20-30 minutes.

Fun fact: Kelly has to refrain from buying every Christmas coffee mug that she sees in the store! They bring her too much joy!

Helping guide young women and men into adulthood. It's a tough and sometimes thankless job - but someones gotta do it. And Girls to Women/Young Men's Health and Wellness does a great job doing just that!
That’s a wrap on Grand Rounds!

For our final session yesterday, we learned from Girls to Women/Young Men's Health and Wellness as they discussed their multi-disciplinary, patient-centered approach to adolescents with obesity/overweight status.
Our doctors are taking on some of the most searched health-related questions on the Internet. This week’s question is, “What foods should be avoided with ADHD?”

There are many truths and myths on the Internet about certain foods that can help children with ADHD, but making sure children maintain a balanced diet is still a good place to start.

“Children with ADHD need nutrients and a varying array of foods,” According to Carolyn Lentzsch-Parcells, M.D.

Find out more about what foods should be avoided with ADHD in this week’s segment of “Our Doctors vs. The Internet” series.
