Meet Dr. Susan Sugerman, co-founder of Girls to Women Health and Wellness!
"Oh the stories I could tell about my own adolescence (I think we all could...)! It's a time of so much change and wonder, of minor trials and extreme challenges. I feel so very grateful to those who helped me through it when I was that age. Being in the position now to help young people along their own journeys toward healthy adulthood is, for me, both a privilege and a payback. And I am thankful every day for what my patients teach me and for the opportunity to be part of their lives.

I couldn't imagine a better place to do this work than with my colleagues at Girls to Women and Young Men's Health and Wellness. I love that we have been able to create a space that feels safe and comfortable for adolescents, young adults, and their families. Being able to "curbside" consult with other quality professionals like therapists, dietitians, and diagnosticians leads to real-time insights that allow us to quickly respond to complex problems and proactively promote good outcomes for our mutual patients. Our staff and management team are awesome and help make GTW/YM Dallas my home away from home."

FUN FACT: Dr. Sugerman loves to knit! 🧶

Meet Alyssa Williamson, our provider of the week! Alyssa is one of our AMAZING therapists and is the proud owner of Embodied Counseling.
"If there is a stuck problem or this is your last ditch, I want to take a crack at it. I bring over five years of experience working in social services with children who are refugees, asylees, and trafficking survivors in foster care, followed by my 6 years of experience as a private practice therapist working with adults and teens. There are losses and hurts in life that you can’t just get off your chest, talk to a friend, walk off, and get over. These kids knew that. I knew that. I have therapies in my toolkit that have been shown to get those chronic conditions and stuck problems moving. These include evidence-based treatments like Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Neurofeedback, and Emotional Transformation therapy.

I love working with teens, individual adults, parents, and families of all compositions (Blended, Adopted, Co-parenting, LBGT, you name it). I am a Christian who is happy to pray with you if that’s something you desire, but I love working with clients of diverse religious spiritual, or non-religious beliefs. We can work together to help you make sense of your past, get grounded in your present, and create the future you want.

We want all our youth to have a happy and healthy summer! We’ve had a lot of questions recently and just wanted to clear up some confusion about COVID boosters. Stay safe and have fun!

· COVID-19 vaccine boosters can further enhance or restore protection that might have waned over time after your primary series vaccination.

· People are protected best from severe COVID-19 illness when they stay up to date with their COVID-19 vaccines, which includes a booster for many people.

· CDC recommends that everyone ages 5 years and older get their primary series of COVID-19 vaccine, and everyone ages 12 years and older also receive a booster.
