A PLACE FOR MOM OR ANOTHER SENIOR CARE HOME? WHAT’S MISSING?
There are many great senior service companies out there that help our seniors find a new home to live out the 4th quarter of their lives…BUT…there is an important step that has been missing from these care providers that allow seniors to get to a better place.
In our case, our parents had been living in their California home for decades and accumulated years of personal items and treasures. Their home was completely full and the idea of sorting through all of it and deciding what goes with them and what would be left behind was extremely emotional and overwhelming. We were thinking, where are we even going to start?
After nearly a year of back-and-forth flights, family members and friends tag-teamed up to help them organize, sort, sell, donate, haul, repair, deep clean, list and sell their home and move to Texas. It took a great deal of time, money and resources, but we finally got them to the point that they could comfortably walk away from their home, cash out on their well-earned home equity and afford to move into an independent living facility in Plano Texas.
Throughout this experience, it was clear that there were no full-service companies that could handle everything in this huge process for us. Sure, a Realtor could sell their house, but not until it was cleared out and prepared for sale. Various providers will individually handle the other services that I mentioned, but you have to call each one individually, collect and compare estimates, schedule the services and hope that they actually show up and do a good job.
Okay, so I’ve painted a picture that many of you can related to, so what’s the point, Chris? Well, my wife Laurie and I were deeply inspired by our family’s extreme experiences and wanted to create something special for our senior communities, a combined end-to-end downsizing and real-estate concierge that has never been provided as a precursor to senior placement companies like A Place for Mom and others.
I am a REALTOR®, so that part’s easily covered, but our professional team took realty services well beyond anything that has previously been available. We created 4TH Quarter Realty Group with the unique ability to coordinate ALL of the dedicated services and support that you need to complete the senior transition into a new place. With an a la carte menu of service options, our clients choose all or a few services to complete their organizing, moving and home sale process. As a bonus, we don’t get paid for any of our services until the clients get paid at sale closings, and even then, it’s only a small portion of their home’s equity. Our clients go on to use that money to finance their moves and to support the 4th quarter of their financial lives.
