For cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, hair loss has traditionally been considered an inevitable side effect. For many patients, the prospect of losing their hair is more than just a matter of vanity. It’s an unwelcome reminder of their disease for the patient and their families – one that can negatively impact self-image, confidence and an overall sense of well-being. The FDA-cleared DigniCap Scalp Cooling System is indicated to reduce the likelihood of chemotherapy-induced alopecia in cancer patients with solid tumors.

"To me DigniCap was a life changer, and I chose to drive an hour and a half each direction to go to an infusion facility that had DigniCap. As for my kids, they didn't see me as their sick mom. Many people in my life, had no idea about my breast cancer until I told them. I was able to work, go to events, and walk out my door every day as if there was no cancer in my life (on the outside appearance)." - Limor, California

“Through 16 rounds of chemo, I kept my hair! Using the DigniCap was the best decision I made during this process, and enabled me to continue to feel like my normal self throughout all of this. I also feel it was a great benefit to my young daughters to cope with my diagnosis and the upheaval in our lives, as I did not "look" like a cancer patient, which helped make it less scary for them.”

“We lose a lot with cancer, and I felt if I had control over at least one thing like preserving my hair, I should do it. My job as an instructor and trainer to people in-person left me feeling anxious about losing hair. Also, I have 2 young children, ages 7 and 4, and I wanted to keep as much normalcy as possible for them. I used DigniCap for my 12 rounds of Taxol and had great success. I followed the care instructions and had no shedding during my treatment and some shedding after treatment.” - Jennifer, New York

Wearing glasses under your DigniCap is not recommended as the areas where the frame falls between the cooling wrap and your scalp will be warmer.

Some patients will wear an old pair of glasses that they can stretch to fit on the outside of the cap.

Another option, suggested by a DigniCap patient is to talk with your optometrist about contact lenses for treatment days.

"I was diagnosed with stage 3 IDC at age 41, 8 months after my first mammogram, which came back clear. With DigniCap I retained approximately 70% of my hair. Many friends and acquaintances had no idea I had been diagnosed with cancer, let alone going through chemo - and I believe it was because of my hair.

I have since formed my own nonprofit and we have helped pay for another patient’s cold cap using DigniCap and have donated thousands of dollars to help patients who couldn’t afford the cost." - Kerry

"I wanted to be able to decide who and when to tell people what I was going through. I cut my hair shorter (shoulder length) right before starting chemo so that if I did lose hair, it would not be so shocking. Using DigniCap allowed me to keep most of my hair so that no one knew I had cancer unless I decided to tell them. I am so very grateful that I could use DigniCap the cap. It gave me some control over a life situation during which you feel very much like control has been taken away from you.” - Maureen, Tennessee

Scalp cooling with DigniCap runs for the duration of your chemo treatment, plus pre and post infusion cooling cycles. The time will vary based on your regimen.

The pre infusion cooling time is 30-minutes. Following a patient’s infusion, the chemotherapy agent is still active in the patient’s bloodstream. Therefore, the scalp cooling treatment continues for a cycle of post-infusion cooling. Depending on drug and dose, this is typically 60 – 180 minutes.
