PTSD TREATMENT WORKS! SPREAD THE WORD!
National PTSD Awareness Month runs from June 1 to June 30, 2026, and is led by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ National Center for PTSD, supported by mental health organizations and communities. It is dedicated to raising public understanding of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), breaking down stigma, and encouraging people to seek help. June 27th, PTSD Awareness Day provides a single-day focus within the month. Any abuse can lead to trauma. Spread the word – PTSD treatment is available and it works! You are not alone.

Mental Health Awareness Month (May) is not over yet. You still have time to raise awareness of mental health's importance, promote recovery, and reduce stigma. Weekly messages and themes are available in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Toolkit.

This week (May 18 - 22): Words Matter and Words Can Heal. Supportive words can help people feel seen, heard, and respected.

Next week (May 25 - 29): Supporting Loved Ones: Connection is a Powerful Form of Care. Start with learning about mental health conditions; it helps you to better respond with empathy and confidence.

The National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI) also provides resources.

And don't forget about YOU! Take intentional steps to support your mental, emotional, and physical health.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Mental Health America (MHA) founded Mental Health Awareness Month in 1949 and has led the effort every May to promote mental wellness nationwide. This year’s theme — More Good Days, Together — encourages us all to reflect on what a “good” day looks like, both for ourselves, and for our communities. Find ways to participate in Mental Health Awareness Month. Together, we can connect people to the right support at the right time, and shape advocacy, education, and community engagement to make more good days possible for all.

April 2026 marks National Stress Awareness Month — a powerful time to pause, reflect, and actively transform how we handle life’s pressures.

Stress is your body's response to changes that require attention or action. Chronic stress affects millions worldwide. Recent data shows work-related stress remains high, with societal division, information overload, and daily pressures contributing to feelings of isolation and burnout. Left unchecked, it impacts sleep, relationships, physical health, and mental wellbeing.

Practical Ways to Manage Stress:
-Practice 5-minute daily breathing exercises or mindful walks to build calm.
-Relational support is one of the strongest stress buffers. Reach out to someone.
-Replace negative thought loops (i.e., try journaling, muscle relaxation, etc.).
-Protect your sleep, exercise your body, and set healthy boundaries around you.

Stress isn’t the enemy — unmanaged stress is. Reclaim control and model healthier living for those around you. Stress is a part of life and comes in all shapes and sizes. Although stress is inevitable, it can be manageable. The change starts with you.
