Did you know that approximately half of American adults have hypertension (high blood pressure)?

High blood pressure is often called the “silent killer” because it usually has no obvious symptoms. Many with the disease are unaware.

Based on a Catapult Health analysis of more than a million patient records, more than half of those with hypertension don’t know it. That is especially true for those under the age of 50. Among those between 30 and 49, 32% had a blood pressure value that indicated hypertension. A fourth of them were at Stage 2 or Crisis level.

According to the American Heart Association, left undetected or uncontrolled, high blood pressure can lead to heart attack, stroke, heart failure, kidney disease or failure, vision loss, and more.

Regardless of age, checking your blood pressure and reviewing your results with a health care provider, like the nurse practitioners at Catapult, is essential to achieving and maintaining good health.

Our Story

Catapult Health was created in 2010 to provide a better, more powerful alternative to traditional worksite screenings. Our goals included greater accuracy, clinical consultations, improved outcomes, and a better overall patient experience. After extensive research, we discovered the Abaxis Piccolo, a machine that delivers accurate blood results within 12 minutes, and negotiated an agreement that gave Catapult exclusive use of the device in workplace settings. That’s when Catapult’s Onsite Preventive Checkups were born!

During the company’s early years, the focus was on establishing a core company strategy of preventive care. All checkups were delivered by techs, team leads, and NPs who went onsite. The logistics of moving equipment, supplies, and people were challenging, especially those related to hiring and scheduling NPs who were licensed in the state where the clinics were conducted. The number of checkups delivered grew quickly, from 13,937 in 2012 to 74,037 in 2016, with clinics conducted in five states.

The second phase of the company (2016-18) was marked by huge strides in technology, staffing, and coordinated licensing. Over the course of a year, Catapult moved to exclusively delivering the NP consult via a video connection. Proprietary technology was created that not only captures patient information locally, processes it, and displays the results to a remotely-located Catapult NP, it also routes the patient to an NP who is licensed in the state where the patient is located and in many cases speaks the patient’s preferred language. This positioned Catapult for nationwide expansion. This new methodology required a reliable, secure connection to the internet which was not always available. Dr. Jeff Smith led the development of the patent pending TopCat device, an innovative approach to connectivity. Depression screening and prescription imports were also implemented during this period.

The current phase is highlighted by improving every patient experience, scaling to allow bringing on larger clients, validation and certification of our security protection, and enhanced referrals into client programs. Simply put, now is the time to supercharge our business.
