It's time for one of our most important yearly posts! As we head into a long weekend full of outdoor fun (and a few more months of this ~unbearable~ heat), we wanted to share this important safety reminder for our friends taking anti-depressants:

If you are taking sertraline, citalopram, duloxetine, fluoxetine, mirtazapine, or any other SNRI/SSRI, you are more prone to overheating and dehydration. Please stay safe in the heat by staying in the shade, staying hydrated, and wearing sunscreen🌞

✨Meet Grant✨

It is Grant’s goal to help clients reach their potential in their lives by providing a comfortable environment for them to express themselves freely in a collaborative, non-judgmental, accepting space. He works with individuals ages 14 and older, couples, and families to identify barriers to reaching their goals. He uses a combination of approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help identify patterns that may be negatively impacting you, as well as Motivational Interviewing to help break through the ambivalence that may be keeping you stuck and preventing you from creating the necessary change in your life.

Grant is accepting new clients for both in-person and Telehealth appointments and is in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, UnitedHealthcare, Sana Benefits, Cigna, and Baylor Scott and White Health Plans. Contact our office today to get scheduled with Grant!

Today, we celebrate a pivotal moment in history, honor freedom and the African-American journey, celebrate resilience, and reflect on the ongoing fight for racial justice, community healing, and equity for all.

Our lives are shaped by our lived experiences and the lived experiences of our family and friends before us and around us. It is important for us to recognize the harm that historical trauma, inequities in the healthcare and mental healthcare systems, and the current political climate has on the mental health of Black communities.

In honor of Juneteenth, we want to uplift a few of the incredible organizations and resource groups that are working hard to help Black communities access the mental healthcare they deserve:
⭐️ FreeBlackTherapy.org - provides FREE remote mental health services to Black Americans with Black and African American mental health professionals
⭐️ TherapyForBlackGirls.com - provides mental wellness resources and helps connect Black Women and Girls with mental health professionals in their area

✨Meet Steven✨

Steven wants to help his clients navigate the complexities of their minds in a way that makes sense, feels safe, and honors their unique journey. He pairs direct, open, and honest communication with a touch of humor to support his clients at their own pace. Steven takes an eclectic approach to counseling, blending EMDR with techniques like mindfulness, prolonged exposure, narrative therapy, and existentialism. He offers counseling services for individuals 18 and older and has experience working with PTSD, C-PTSD, Survivor Empowerment, life purpose exploration, and stress management.
