March 1st marks Self Injury Awareness Day and starts Self Harm Awareness Month.

There is a stigma surrounding self harm that makes it hard for people to talk about it and receive the help they need. Self injury is often a sign of underlying mental health conditions. Those who suffer from depression, anxiety, and other disorders turn to self harm as a way to relieve emotional pain, and it can lead to more self-destructing coping mechanisms.

If you or anyone you know is in immediate risk of self harm, contact:
The Crisis Text Line at 741741
The Su***de Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255

Grounding can be an excellent tool for all ages that can help turn away your attention on your thoughts, memories or worries and focus on the present.

Try this grounding technique if you find yourself in a high stress situation. This is meant to help you focus on the moment and not on anxious thoughts.

Are you looking for ways to help your youth feel less anxious? Teaching breathing exercises can help anyone learn to calm themselves when they feel anxious or need to refocus. Deep breathing is one of the best ways to lower stress in the body. This is because when you breathe deeply, it sends a message to your brain to calm down and relax. Try this breathing exercise! Breathe in while the circle moves up, hold your breath, and exhale while the circle moves down.

We believe in you…you can!

Let's kick of this week with gratitude! What are you thankful for?

According to the National Center for Education Statistics, 20.2% of all students have reported experiencing some kind of bullying. Cyber-bullying is more common than you think. Help your youth to understand that what they say and do on social media can affect them and others in real life!

It’s Anti-Bullying Week and this week we will be sharing ways YOU can help spread the message “One Kind Word.” Let’s all work together to stop bullying!

When we learn to let go of the negative thoughts, behaviors, and attitudes we can make room and focus on the growth we are trying to make.

Are you looking for ways to facilitate a discussion with youth on their thoughts and feelings? Try using this tool below; My 3 Houses. It is a great way for them to write, draw, or even talk about what is going well for them, what isn't working, and what they are working towards.

Feeling tired from the weekend? Make yourself a Mindful Monday checklist and take time to refocus on positive energy and thoughts. You can achieve anything you put your mind to!
