We had a bit of excitement during our annual scientific meeting in Jacksonville, FL from 9/19-9/21/24. Our ever-present executive Vice-president, Sherry Sandoval, had some neurologic symptoms that were later diagnosed as a brain tumor at Mayo Clinic. Surgery followed shortly on 9/25/24. She made it through without complications, but she will need additional follow-ups appointments to explore next steps of her medical care. Many on our CAMA board have contributed financially for travel and medical expenses. If you would like to do the same, you can find her on Zelle with her phone number, 214-676-2442. Cards can also be sent to her home address of 6807 Colfax Drive, Dallas, TX 75231 …. We are all thinking of her and wishing her the best through this scary time. So far, she has kept a smile on her face and maintained a fabulous attitude!

Great news!! Registration is now open for the CAMA Annual Scientific Meeting being held in Jacksonville, Florida, September 19-21, 2024. To view the program, make hotel reservations, and register for this medical education conference, go to the “Annual Meeting” page of the CAMA website at www.civilavmed.org. Also check out the April edition of our newsletter, “The Flight Physician” on the newsletter page of that same website. The newsletter contains additional information about the annual meeting along with the program and registration form. This meeting will have Continuing Medical Education (CME) for attendees and qualifies for FAA recertification/refresher training for Aviation Medical Examiners (AMEs). The cut-off date for on-time registration to attend the CAMA 2023 Annual Scientific Meeting in Omaha, Nebraska, October 5-7th, is September 13th. After that date there will be a $50 late registration fee. If you wish to attend this year’s conference, contact us now to reserve your place! CAMA is participating in the Aerospace Medical Association (AsMA) 2023 Annual Scientific Meeting here at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown New Orleans. We have a fantastic lineup of speakers for CAMA Sunday tomorrow 8:00 am to noon, with four hours of medical education rated for four hours of continuing medical education (CME) credit for all attendees. Attendance is free, so join us tomorrow for this great program!!

Many thanks to Hotel Albuquerque at Old Town, the Anderson Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum, the talented speakers, and the many attendees to the CAMA 2022 Annual Scientific Meeting for a wonderful, productive, interesting, entertaining, and highly successful medical education conference!!! Attached are a few of the photos taken at our field trip to the Museum and of our Honors Night keynote speaker, Albuquerque premier balloon pilot, Troy Bradley, who was presented with the CAMA top award, the Bird Recognition Award for his exemplary accomplishments. Here we are in beautiful Albuquerque, New Mexico, for the start of the Annual Scientific Meeting of the Civil Aviation Medical Association!! Today is the Fall Executive Board Meeting, and we start checking in our attendees beginning this evening in the lobby of the host hotel, Hotel Albuquerque. The intensive aerospace medical education begins at 8:00 AM Thursday and runs through 5:00 pm on Saturday. This is an exciting yearly event! This year’s program has been rated for 23.5 continuing medical education credits (CME) and is sanctioned by the FAA for Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) refresher credit. A fantastic medical education program, Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) refresher credit, eight delicious meals, a field trip to the Albuquerque Hot air Ballion Museum, Continuing Medical Education credits (CME), and a video library of every slide and every presentation are all included in the registration fee! This is the first day of the 2021 CAMA Annual Scientific Meeting here at the Embassy Suites Hotel in San Antonio, Texas.
