May 7, 2024 is World Asthma Day (WAD). WAD is organized by the Global Initiative for Asthma, (GINA) (www.ginasthma.org), a World Health Organization collaborative organization founded in 1993. WAD is held each May to raise awareness of Asthma worldwide.

Today is Global Chronic Rhinosinusitis with hashtag (CRSwNP) Awareness Day and a great opportunity to bring attention to the impact CRSwNP has on individuals’ daily lives worldwide.

CRSwNP is a chronic disease of the upper airway that obstructs the sinuses and nasal passages which can lead to breathing difficulties, nasal congestion and discharge, reduced or loss of sense of smell and taste, and facial pressure. It can be debilitating and is a widely underestimated disease.

If you have ever considered joining a research study, now may be a great time! We are currently enrolling in studies for both chronic cough and asthma. Why join a study? According to the National Institutes of Health, people participate in clinical trials for a variety of reasons. Healthy volunteers say they participate to help others and to contribute to moving science forward. Participants with an illness or disease also participate to help others, but also to possibly receive the newest treatment and to have the additional care and attention from the clinical trial staff.
Clinical trials offer hope for many people and an opportunity to help researchers find better treatments for others in the future.
