“Empathy is a strange and powerful thing. There is no script. There is no right way or wrong way to do it. It's simply listening, holding space, withholding judgment, emotionally connecting, and communicating that incredibly healing message of “You're not alone.” - Brene Brown

When we embrace who we are and love ourselves wholeheartedly, we allow others the freedom to be who they are too.

At Life Balance Counseling, there is no judgment- just love, acceptance, and freedom to be you. 🤍

You don’t owe your younger self a life that you have learned is no longer what you want. Take time to check in with yourself and be intentional about your daily habits and choices. Maybe your current situation is actually giving you an opportunity to reevaluate and think about the life you want to create now that you know what you know?

Trust yourself and know the dots will connect eventually ❤️

Friendly reminder- just because you have “always” been this way or have held these strong beliefs, doesn’t mean that you can’t change. There can be fear in letting go of an identity or belief you have held on to for so long, and at the same time by loosening the grip, you make space to explore and better understand who you are today and the life you want to lead moving forward. You don’t owe your younger self a life that you have learned is no longer what you want.

The values I live my life by are compassion and congruence. My intention is to treat others and myself with loving kindness and to be who I say I am as I embrace my humanity.

What are yours?

Self-compassion does not mean we are off the hook for our actions. Rather, it reminds us that we are imperfect beings impacted by things that are out of our control- childhood experience, genetics, life circumstances, culture and beliefs, etc.

By responding with understanding and compassion to ourselves in the midst of our mistakes and missteps, we create space to see ourselves more clearly and do what’s needed to make things better without consuming ourselves with added shame. Self-compassion responds with understanding, curiosity and acceptance not punishment and judgement.

I hope you can take a moment to honor where you have been to get to where you are today AND hold on to hope for the version of you that you are becoming! Keep moving forward and know you are doing better than you think! 🙌🏼

When you can’t see the light, trust that I will sit with you in the darkness and hold on to hope until you can.

“What we don’t need in the midst of struggle is shame for being human.” — Brené Brown

Healing doesn’t happen with time... it happens with intentionality, compassion, awareness, forgiveness and acceptance.

Be gentle with yourself, you are doing the best you can. ❤️

We live our lives in patterns; therefore, in order to shift and evolve, we need to identify and understand how the pattern typically plays out in our lives and why we might have used it to survive. The more aware we can become, the more intentional we can be in responding and making choices about how we move forward. Just because you have always done it that way, does not mean it is currently serving you or helping you create a life you feel good about. Evolve or repeat.

I see you and know how much discipline, consistency, time, effort, struggle, compassion, patience and grace it has taken for you to be where you are today. Keep moving forward and take time to appreciate where you started and who you are becoming.🦋❤️

Nothing changes, if nothing changes.

The relationship you have with yourself sets the tone for all other relationships in your life.

I hope you can take a moment to honor where you have been to get to where you are today AND hold on to hope for the version of you that you are becoming! Keep moving forward! ❤️

I see you and you matter. ❤️

Here's How Long It Might Take To Mentally Recover From The Past Year 03/11/2021

Here's How Long It Might Take To Mentally Recover From The Past Year

Here's How Long It Might Take To Mentally Recover From The Past Year Sadly, there will be long-term mental health effects from the coronavirus. And they may linger beyond the end of the crisis.

You are strong enough to face it all, even when you don’t feel like it. You’ve got this - keep moving forward and trusting that you have your own back. 🦋

Anyone else need this reminder today? Take a deep breath and keep moving forward. You have almost made it through your Monday! 🙌🏼❤️

I hope you can find time this week to surround yourself with people who remind you of your goodness and value - because you are good and valuable. 🌟

Friendly reminder that how you treat others is a reflection of what is going on inside of you and how you see the world around you.

Learn to listen and trust your intuition - you do know what is best for you and your life. Please don’t base your decisions off the opinions of others who don’t have to live with the results. Be on your own side! ❤️

“How will you know that you are suffering if you are repressing your pain, rationalizing it, or busy with problem-solving?

You must allow awareness of your pain to enter in. Being mindful is about noticing what is happening in the moment and having no judgment about it.

Notice your hurt and just be with it, compassionately and with kindness.

And note that trying to make pain go away with self-compassion is just another way to repress pain and hurt. Self-compassion is about being with your suffering in a kind, loving way, not about making suffering disappear.

We will always have pain. But as Shinzen Young has noted: Suffering = Pain x Resistance. The more you resist your pain, perhaps by trying to make it go away, the more suffering you will experience.

Mindfulness allows you to stay with the pain without the resistance.”

- Kristin Neff, “Self-Compassion”
