🎯 PRACTICE WITH RANDY

Practice with Randy is a live, online class where you don't just watch a demonstration. You practice the full sequence with him, in real time, as he builds the work from the inside out.

Randy will practice as he teaches. You'll see how he sets up each pose, how he uses props, and what he changes to make the alignment clearer.

You'll learn the key actions that make the pose work, not just the outer form.

This format is more intimate than a typical all-levels class. It's a chance to study pacing, transitions, and the small refinements that are easy to miss when multiple students are being used to demonstrate.

You'll leave with practical takeaways you can use in your next class and in your home practice.

Every Thursday at 8am CT

Online workshop Announcement
Principles of Arm Balancing with Gulnaaz Dashti.

Arm balances are a study in education, not effort. You learn how weight is received through the hands, how the spine supports without hardening, and how the legs still participate even when they leave the ground. In the clip, Gulnaaz points to the moment that changes everything. Pause. Take a few breaths. Don’t push the head forward. Look up. Give yourself a chance to organize, not just to “hold.”

Gulnaaz returns to teaching after medical leave, and we’re honored to welcome her back for this two-day intensive designed for experienced practitioners. This weekend continues the deep, steady inquiry our community has been committed to through six years of study with the Gulnaaz Yoga Club, and it’s open to all qualified students.

🌊 FORWARD EXTENSIONS 🌊

Lengthen. Release. Breathe.

Forward extensions are the antidote to modern life. They calm your nervous system, soothe your mind, and create space in your spine. When you fold forward with awareness, you're not just stretching—you're inviting your body to let go.

In Iyengar Yoga, forward extensions teach us to lengthen the spine, release tension in the hamstrings and back body, and improve circulation. They regulate your digestive system, quiet mental chatter, and help you find peace in stillness.

These poses remind us that sometimes the deepest strength comes from surrendering and releasing what no longer serves us.

Ready to find calm? Join us this week for forward extensions that bring balance to your body and mind. 🧘

Where do you twist from.
Your pelvis. Your abdomen. Your legs.

You’ve heard it all.

Try this instead.
Start with your latissimus muscles and your ribcage.

In this pose, the ribs don’t stay still.
They move.
They lift.
They rotate.

Watch what happens when the back body wakes up.
As the leg action organizes, the ribs drag and turn across the back.
That rib movement creates the rotation you’ve been chasing.

Can you see the ribs moving.
That’s your twist.

Want to feel it in your own body.
Come practice with us at BKS Iyengar Yoga Studio of Dallas.
Props are ready.
All levels welcome.

Four bodies. One pose. Infinite intelligence.

In Dwi Pada Viparita Dandasana, there is no single “right” expression, only a right action.
Each of these practitioners arrives differently, but the spine is asking the same question in every variation:

Can you distribute the work, or will you collapse into it?

As Randy Just teaches through the descent from Sirsasana, the back body must stay awake. Not gripping, not forcing, but organizing.

Different shapes. Same intelligence.

This is the practice: refining how you arrive.
