Did you know, according to https://buff.ly/3sdXABI, only 28 percent of Americans have worked with their fellow citizens to solve a community problem within the last 12 months?

Building better communities can sometimes be a challenging task. You have to implement health care rules and regulations that benefit us all and cultivate relationships that can get the job done. It starts with neighborhood involvement and business outreach. Each one of us has a prominent place in our neighborhoods. So let's start today and make some changes.

MAY is Mental Health Awareness Month, and addressing systemic racism is as factual as any disease. Ethnic, gender, and sexual minorities often suffer from poor mental health outcomes due to the inaccessibility of high-quality mental health care services. Mental health care and discrimination exist, especially in our black and brown communities, but having open, honest, authentic conversations about racial equity is just the start.

We have to start with building better community groups and policymakers to address social determinants of healthcare disparities. Today, let's begin by voting for political leaders that can advocate for our communities.

“Put yourself on your own to-do list. You are important. You have to take care of yourself.” - Sherry D. Flewellen-Ervin (LCDC, LPC, CART)

The Help Show’s Earth Day event was all about taking care of yourself and your plants. There is such symbolism about personal self-care and plant care - they are the same. Your plants have to be watered, loved, and given plenty of light in order for them to grow. Do yourself a favor today - put yourself on your own to-do list.

DID YOU KNOW that 39.5 Million Americans live in food deserts.

Food deserts are also a disproportionate reality for Black communities, according to a 2014 study from Johns Hopkins University.

The study compared U.S. census tracts of similar poverty levels and discovered that, in urban areas, Black communities had the fewest supermarkets, white communities had the most, and multiracial communities fell in the middle of the supermarket count range.

Follow for great motivational, positive reading content.

Losing a friend to su***de would forever change her life. These days her work as a mental health advocate makes Nietta Reynolds, not only a champion for communities of color but people everywhere. As Co-host of "The Help Show," NiEtta serves as a helping hand by connecting individuals everywhere to mental health resources. Here she shares the piece of profound advice—that forever changed her outlook:

“The best professional advice was given to me by my father, a man who was a passionate entrepreneur. He would always tell me to be patient in my craft and learn from my mistakes in the process. I put his words into practice every day. As a mental health advocate, I work on my craft daily by continuing my education, thoroughly researching mental health, and building meaningful relationships with local leaders and my incredible team. Producing a podcast that increases public awareness of mental health and connects people to community resources is not a simple task. It takes a unique kind of patience and profound reflection on how we can
continually contribute to the improvement of society.”

Reynolds -- Mental Health advocate and philanthropist; Founder and CEO, “The Help Show” podcast.

I Think Therefore I Help

The Help Show is a podcast dedicated to connecting individuals to mental health community resources. The podcast was started by Dallas Texas Native, NiEtta Reynolds, following the tragic and shocking death of a dear friend. This life changing event, her friend’s su***de, began the journey in starting The Help Show.

Mental health awareness is imperative in this day and age where we are bombarded with so much on a daily basis. We are forced to “smile and wave” and pretend everything is “okay” when in fact we are feeling broken inside.

The Help Show is here to bring that awareness to you. To you let you know that you are not alone and most importantly - you should NEVER feel ashamed of feeling less than perfect.

Please visit my website and find out about when the next podcast is or how you can get involved in our many initiatives and outreach programs.
