Thank you for the wonderful flowers, and thank you to Dr. Vaughn, Dr. Rowan, and Jeff's friends at Rutherford Daycare and on Staff. Jeff loved the Small Yard and all his friends at Rutherford. We'll all miss that strange little terrier. Bob.
Found this, thought I would share!
Thanks again for taking such good care of Toby last weekend. I never worry when he's there enjoying a doggie holiday with you. 💙🐶💙
This is Dexter! This year for Halloween he is going as a two-eyed cat! Dexter has been with the Jacob family since January of this year. While we don't know much about his past, we do know it was rough. He has one eye, has stubby legs, and walks a bit wobbly, but he is sure to steal the hearts of anyone that meets him. Happy Halloween!

He loves playing Tug of War and Barking at Squirrels

Due to our current staffing levels in our technical and kennel areas of our hospital we have found it necessary to make some short-term changes to the services we offer along with making a change to our hours of operation. Since we don't have the staff available to safely care for our regular volume of boarding pets at this time, effective immediately we will have to stop offering boarding and daycare services, except for those that already have reservations booked. However, if you have an emergency need for boarding or daycare, please contact Dr Rowan or Cristina Munoz to see if we can accommodate your pet. The bathing schedule will continue to be limited to the needs of current boarders and medically necessary baths. We regret we have had to make this decision, however we put pet safety and staff safety at the highest level of importance.

Effective Monday August 9th we will be making a change to our hours of operation. We will close at 6:00 pm on Mondays and we will be closing for lunch from 12 p.m to 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. We also ask that you make every effort to make an appointment for wellness care and if urgent care is needed for a sick pet please call to speak to a doctor or technician. We will make every effort to see sick pets as soon as possible. We apologize for having to make this update and for the inconvenience this may cause. We hope these changes will be temporary. We will evaluate our staffing levels at the end of August and make adjustments as needed. Our hope is that we will have the staff available to provide the level of service you've become accustomed to. Once again thank you for your continued trust in us. If you have any concerns or questions, please contact me at [email protected]

UPDATE: Kitten has been adopted

Hello everyone. We wanted to let you know that we currently have a beautiful Tortie kitten that will soon be available for adoption. She was left in a toolbox at our front door a couple of weeks ago along with her two siblings. They are estimated to be around 6 weeks old. Her two siblings already have homes they will be adopted out to when they are ready. This kitten is very sweet and playful! If you are interested in providing her a forever home and would like to meet her, please call us at 214-826-4166 and ask for Cristina. If you’re unable to adopt at this time please help us find her the forever home she deserves by sharing this post. Thank you so much!

Today is National AAHA accredited hospital Day! Rutherford Veterinary Hospital has proudly been an AAHA accredited hospital since 1998! AAHA has been recognizing veterinary hospitals for their commitment to maintaining high standards of care for over 80 years. To be eligible for AAHA accreditation, hospitals must be evaluated on approximately 900 standards that assess safety protocols, equipment, veterinary knowledge, and other key areas of pet health care. Accredited hospitals are home to leading pet health care providers that must demonstrate an exceptional level of medical care and client services. AAHA accredited hospitals are measured against the most rigorous standards in the veterinary industry. Only 12-15% of animal hospitals in the United States and Canada are AAHA accredited and we are so proud to be one of them! #AAHAday

REMINDERS:

• Our front door will remain locked during business hours

• Please remain in your car and call to check in.

• Employees and anyone entering Rutherford Veterinary Hospital must wear a mask at all times inside the clinic.

Dear Rutherford Clients and family

Coronavirus has impacted everyone more than anyone expected, and our business has struggled as many others have. Sadly, Coronavirus has continued to tax and stress our now smaller staff and our ability to provide all the services we have in the past. We are grateful that demand for Veterinary care has remained high, while experiencing an extreme reduction in demand for boarding and daycare services. In light of this, we are asking for boarders to make reservations routinely as we need to monitor and potentially limit boarding spots due to staff availability. At this time, we do want to continue to provide daycare, however, please assist us by calling ahead of drop off to make sure we are not experiencing excessive attendance for the day. Spots will continue to be provided for our regular daycare pets. Any baths will also need to be scheduled ahead of time with only a few spots available each day.

Those of you who have been with us through the years know that we have always been proud of the quality of care we provide our boarders and daycare pets, and it saddens me that we find ourselves in this position. Nevertheless, in order to meet the exceptional standards of care you have come to expect, we have to take these steps in order to help focus our staff’s attention and energies more on the medical side until we feel we can fully support both sides of our business. It is my sincere hope that we will be able to open boarding and daycare to our normal volume of pets as people start to travel again and as coronavirus caseloads are reduced. Until that time, I ask for your patience and kindness to our staff as they do their best to provide care for you and your four-footed family members. If you have any questions, special need or concerns feel free to contact me personally.

Thank you for being part of our Rutherford Veterinary family and for your continued support.

Sincerely,
Dr. Teri Rowan
