Last month, we were honored to unveil April Samuels' naming recognition in the infusion area at the oncology clinic at Moody Outpatient Center. The sign celebrates more than $274,000 donated by the Breast Cancer Can Stick It Foundation, Inc. It also honors the memory of Jan Samuels, April's mother and the executive director for BCCSI. Move over, Santa! Members of Sebastian Construction made things merry and bright for families in our neonatal intensive care unit this holiday season. Thanks to Patti Sebastian and her helpers for setting up a holiday shop for NICU families filled with tables of brand new donated toys for the siblings of our tiniest Parkland patients. Parents were able to reserve a time to come to the hospital, pick out toys and have them gift wrapped. Thank you Sebastian Construction for spreading so much holiday cheer!

Our incredible partners at Junior Charity League, fondly known as the “J-C-elves” at this time of year, brought holiday cheer to Parkland Health last week! They delivered oversized stockings to our physical medicine and rehabilitation staff and patients, bringing smiles, laughter, and even tears of joy. In addition, JCL members hosted a festive holiday party for stroke survivors, complete with ornament-making and lively bingo games. A heartfelt thank you to JCL for brightening the season and spreading joy throughout Parkland!

After the success of Do Good Fest this fall, our partners at National Life Group were eager to deepen their engagement with Parkland. The Parkland Health trauma team stepped up, visiting National Life Group's office to lead a Stop the Bleed training, equipping participants with lifesaving skills. National Life Group team members learned more about Parkland and the Foundation’s work, and they ended the day by writing heartfelt holiday messages to hospital staff, thanking them for their dedication to saving lives.

We are thankful to the Junior Charity League for being a long-time partner of Parkland Health and the Parkland Health Foundation.

JCL members came to the hospital to show their gratitude to Parkland's Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation staff by dropping off snack bags.

JCL has supported Parkland's rehab patients and staff for more than 50 years and their fund helped purchase new rehab equipment in our outpatient gym located at the Simmons Ambulatory Surgery Center. To date, JCL has raised over three million for Parkland.

As we wrap up 2024, we're looking ahead to exciting milestones at Parkland Health—one of which is the upcoming opening of the Richland Health Center at Dallas College in 2026! This new facility will bring healthcare closer to our East Dallas communities who need it most.

This COPC is predicted to help serve around 18,000 patients a year once completed.
