ADVENTURE + SNOW = FACEBOOK FAMOUS!
Last week’s bit of snow led to quite a memorable adventure for two Dallas Retirement Village residents!
The ladies decided to take a scenic drive out by Falls City. Things changed quickly with the change in elevation, and as the snow grew deeper and deeper... these lovely adventurers eventually found their car stuck! A kind passerby spotted them, snapped a photo, and posted it to Facebook asking the community for help.

Before long, the post spread… and suddenly the two adventurers were Facebook famous! 😂From comments of concern, to admiring their smiles for embracing the experience- the SOS post received a lot of interaction. One Facebook spectator even took the time to create an AI generated rendition of their original photo which depict this moment in time- perfectly!
Thankfully, help arrived quickly and they made it home safe and sound—just a little more famous than when they left.
And the best part? Some staff members saw the Facebook post before the ladies even made it back to campus! It definitely gave everyone at DRV a good laugh and a story that won’t be forgotten anytime soon.
A perfect reminder that adventure doesn’t stop as you age — if anything, it becomes even more memorable. 💙

Residents of Dallas Retirement Village enjoyed a wonderful outing to the Yaquina Head Lighthouse, taking in stunning ocean views and learning about the rich history of this iconic landmark. The day also included a relaxing coastal lunch at The Horn Public House & Brewery in Depoe Bay, plus a special treat — spotting seals lounging on the rocks below.

Ila comes to Dallas from Florence, OR, where she had lived since the age of 10. She is the proud mother of four daughters who hold a very special place in her heart.
In her free time, Ila enjoys quilting, getting lost in a good book, and gardening—favorite pastimes that bring both joy and relaxation.

Last Friday’s Valentine’s Day social brought all the sweet vibes! Residents enjoyed warm, tasty fondue paired with an assortment of delicious treats and snacks perfect for dipping. Mimosas and sparkling cider added a festive sparkle to the afternoon, creating the ideal celebration atmosphere.
Residents also participated in a variety of games, with prizes handed out to the winners throughout the event.
A heartfelt thank‑you to everyone who stopped by and helped make the celebration memorable. ❤️

Love is in the air at Dallas Retirement Village! ❤️
For Valentine’s Day, Life Enrichment created a heartfelt display featuring wedding photos from some residents, each paired with their love story — how they met, how long they dated, special details from their wedding day, and the years they’ve shared since.
The photos and stories are now hanging in the Sky Bridge for everyone to enjoy, and it’s been so meaningful seeing residents, families, and team members stop to read and reminisce together.

Dallas Retirement Village residents recently enjoyed an educational outing to the incredible Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum in McMinnville. ✈️🚀
Huge shout‑out to docent Donn Anderson for making our visit truly unforgettable! His passion and incredible knowledge brought the Space Museum to life for the residents. Donn is no stranger to Dallas Retirement Village—his “Space Talk” series on campus is always a hit—so getting to explore the museum with him made the day extra special. ⭐️
The museum offered so much to explore that plans are already in motion for a future trip, allowing even more time to take in everything this amazing destination has to offer.

Residents recently enjoyed a scenic drive through our beautiful region, taking in the views that make this such a wonderful place to call home. The outing included a fun stop at Dairy Queen for a classic sweet treat—and, of course, at least one of transportation driver Lane’s famous bad jokes. 🤣
It was a relaxing afternoon filled with great company, fresh air, and plenty of smiles. Experiences like these are what make community life at Dallas Retirement Village so special. 💙

Darrell Jabin, Oregon’s Traveling Historian, shared the history of carousels — from design and carving to the community efforts that bring them to life. Photos and stories highlighted carousels in Portland, Seaside, Albany, Salem, and Eugene, including insights from the volunteers who continue to carve animals for the Albany carousel and the founders of the Salem carousel.
