In early February, Mr. Avalos transferred to our #Harlingen hospital to begin a specialized care plan for #COVID19 complications, including respiratory failure.

When Mr. Avalos arrived at our hospital, he needed a high flow of oxygen to breathe and required assistance for his mobility and activities of daily living.

As our interdisciplinary team prepared a treatment plan for Mr. Avalos, he shared that he and his wife, Aida, were on vacation in the Rio Grande Valley when he became ill. With his life waiting for him back in Arizona, Mr. Avalos trusted in our team to get him home.

In less than a month, Mr. Avalos achieved this! He was weaned from oxygen support, walking independently, and completing self-care activities without assistance. Three days after being discharged, Mr. and Mrs. Avalos stopped by to share their gratitude with the team before leaving for Arizona! We're so honored to #MakeADifference for the Avalos family! πŸ’™

πŸ“Έ: When Mr. Wright transitioned to Cornerstone Specialty Hospitals #Conroe for continued care for COVID-19 complications and respiratory failure, he was on a ventilator. During his rehabilitation evaluation, Mr. Wright's legs were so weak that he couldn't sit up by himself.

After one month of an intensive treatment plan, Mr. Wright was weaned from the ventilator and could walk to 200 feet with minimal assistance! Before he was discharged to inpatient rehabilitation to continue his recovery, Mr. Wright shared his plan to return to our hospital and thank the team members he connected with on his journey.

This week, Mr. Wright was able to achieve that goal! He visited our hospital to let us know how well he's doing at home and brought homemade cookies from his wife! We're so thankful for the kindness Mr. Wright shared with our team! #MakeADifference
When Ms. Savard was 28 weeks pregnant, she went to a #Tucson hospital and was diagnosed with #COVID19 pneumonia. Due to complications, she was placed on a ventilator and underwent an emergency c-section to deliver her daughter.

After her delivery, she transitioned to Cornerstone Specialty Hospitals Southeast Arizona to receive continued care. When she arrived, she remained on the ventilator and could not move without assistance from our rehabilitation team.

Despite the challenges she faced, Ms. Savard's newborn daughter served as her inspiration. She worked diligently with our team to rebuild her life. Thanks to this hard work and dedication, Ms. Savard was weaned from the ventilator and could walk independently again!

Recently, our case managers discharged Ms. Savard home! We're so thankful to be part of Ms. Savard's story and wish her the best as a new mom! #MakeADifference πŸ’™

πŸ“Έ: When Ms. Rasdon began to feel shortness of breath, she went to the emergency room and was placed on a ventilator to save her life. She was diagnosed with heart failure and underwent several heart procedures. After these procedures, Ms. Rasdon transitioned to Cornerstone Specialty Hospitals #LittleRock for intensive care to rebuild her life.

Upon evaluation, she was on a ventilator and could stand with assistance. Although her condition was challenging, her family inspired her to keep fighting. Within two weeks at our hospital, Ms. Rasdon learned to walk again and was weaned from the ventilator. She was discharged to inpatient rehabilitation to continue her recovery.

Before leaving our hospital, Ms. Rasdon shared how excited she was to renew her vows with her husband and reopen her online small business. We're so thankful to #MakeADifference for Ms. Rasdon and wish her the best!

πŸ“Έ: Before testing positive for , Mr. Thomas was in good health and lived at home with his wife. When he began to experience symptoms of the virus, Mr. Thomas was admitted to an acute care hospital. As he fought for his life, he lost 50 pounds and was on a non-invasive ventilator in the ICU.

When he transitioned to Cornerstone Specialty Hospitals Medical Center, Mr. Thomas required a high flow of oxygen and was limited in his mobility. Our interdisciplinary team developed a customized treatment plan to empower Mr. Thomas’ recovery.

From day one, Mr. Thomas was motivated to return home to his wife. Within 22 days, Mr. Thomas accomplished this goal!

Upon discharge to his home, Mr. Thomas could transfer and walk independently for 200 feet. Alongside this rehabilitation progress, his oxygen levels improved! On the day of his discharge, Mr. Thomas walked down to his friend’s car and got in without assistance! We were honored to witness this moment and be part of Mr. Thomas’ story!
