Maybe it’s hyper-efficient pattern recognition, maybe it’s a collective trauma response. Forever going to normalize emotional responses, both to normal and abnormal events. 😭

If MLK was living today, I can only imagine his dismay, outrage, & heartbreak. 💔

If the weight of our crumbling society & destruction of human rights & human decency sits heavy with you, please know you are always safe with me.

When I feel hopeless & helpless myself, I remind myself “look to the helpers”. Look to the changemakers.🖤

“Rituals don’t have to be elaborate to be meaningful. The simple act of naming what we’re ready to release — and allowing ourselves to feel it — can shift something inside. When paired with intention and a physical action, ritual becomes a kind of emotional alchemy: turning sorrow into softness and endings into a form of power.”

It’s been a year that’s tested many of us collectively, so I thought I’d share a ritual that I’ll be doing to close the year. [Post & ritual inspo from Stephanie Valente of The Good Trade.]

In one or two words below what will you be releasing from 2025?

2026, we’re ready for you!!!

What a privilege to do this work & encounter such wonderful people along the way. 🧡 Thank you, thank you.

However this Thanksgiving lands for you, I hope it includes tender moments of care & connection with yourself, those around, and your body. Remember, nothing will change in a day - not the hurts of the past, current politics or people’s POVs, or the size of your jeans.

In gratitude & service 🙏🏼

As Thanksgiving approaches with old wounds that can resurface in our families and relationships in general, here’s one essential. Keep in mind this concept of capacity: both yours & others.

And if there are any of you out there who’ve been working diligently on increasing your emotional capacity while seeing the limitations of loved ones, your feelings of frustration, disappointment, etc are valid. Do your best to focus on you…and perhaps by modeling healthier regulation skills & boundaries you’ll make a difference someday. Sending you care in the interim 🫶

Looking for the answers to your problems? Go look in the mirror. 🪞While you are at it, go ahead give yourself a wink & tell yourself you are far more powerful than you give yourself credit for. 😉

I will forever stand by the belief that as a therapist I am a guide and a mirror. I will not fix you. I help you look into the depths of yourself and peel back the layers with care, curiosity, & compassion, so that you can reconnect with the parts of you that had the answers all along. While I don’t *just* listen & nod, I take an active, empowering approach to reminding you that you are your own best healer. I also deeply align with how EMDR, inner child work, & psychedelic healing can help tremendously in the process. With the last modality, it really is about unveiling & reconnecting to your inner healing intelligence. Follow my separate account if curious to know more.

I realize I don’t show enough love on this account for EMDR. I may ruffle some feathers with this, but if you are looking to resolve trauma by simply talking to a nice therapist who you chose because they are on your insurance & fit your schedule, your healing is going to be shortchanged. You need all of the above AND a different modality. Trauma alters important brain & nervous system functions and more is required than just having a therapist tell you “It wasn’t your fault.”

When I think about how it costs $200 to just step outside our front doors these days 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♂️, I’m committed to trying to create healing & resolution most effectively. Ya feel me? Cue EMDR. 👁️🗣️🛋️

What questions do you have for me about EMDR?!

does an incredible job of explaining unprocessed trauma in the body & corresponding negative views of self. ❤️‍🩹

One thing to note: while caregivers play a tremendous role in how secure & loved we feel, I also like to expand from just caregivers to “people of influence”. Critical or emotionally unavailable coaches, religious leaders, siblings, extended family members, & toxic/abusive relationships also can contribute to a learned nervous system pattern of hyper-vigilance & unworthiness.

Drop a heart or share with others if you found any of this useful. 🤍

Absolutely love this comprehensive guide by Nadia Addesi. I’d wager that few of us were taught from a young age on how to properly process emotions vs. thinking/analyzing. Energy in motion = emotion. The “thinking your feelings” method really is a protective mechanism that suppresses that emotional energy, keeping it stuck in the body.
