It is easy to forget that "the purpose of Ayurveda and Yoga are not to make you feel bad about yourself. They’re actually tools to help you understand yourself.

Sometimes that growth is uncomfortable, but it doesn’t need to be steeped in shame.

The perspective that we need to do everything “right” is clouded with misunderstanding. We are here to learn and grow and we can only do that when we are messy and authentic."

Thank you SimpleVeda: Ayurveda + Yoga for the reminder :)

Happy Sunday + Happy International Ayurveda Day!

Yoga and Ayurveda are sister sciences, and the presence that Yoga gives us on our mat, Ayurveda helps us achieve in our daily life.

Ayurveda is a way to live, and the root of the word says it all. ‘Ayur’ means life and longevity, while ‘veda’ means knowledge, so it’s the knowledge required to live a life of vitality and love for oneself 💗

Here are three fun facts about Ayurveda that might catch your eye:

🔸 Ayurveda is recognized as the oldest system or form of comprehensive healthcare in the world.

🔸 This science has been passed down for over 5,000 years, and was originally shared as an oral tradition.

🔸 ‘Svastha’ is Ayurveda’s definition of health and is the harmonious state between the mind, the soul, and the senses. This state allows us to experience feeling of Self, wellness, and bliss.

It is our most sincere intention to continue spreading the beautiful science behind Ayurveda, and assist you to determine how it can support your journey to health and wellbeing.

Vata balancing practices 🍂🍂🍂

Ayurveda gives great importance to seasonal changes because it’s a science that is built on circadian rhythms. To live an Ayurvedic lifestyle means you are in alignment and connected with nature’s intelligence.

Vata season is here and it’s a period of transition and a time to go inward. Vata holds the energy of air and ether (space) elements and governs movement, coordination of thought, nerve impulses, breathing, pulsation of the heart, creativity, and flexibility.

Here are 5 simple ways to balance the vata dosha this season:

🍃Eat warm, well-spiced, unctuous, and grounding foods; root vegetables, butternut squash, beets, sweet potatoes, acorn squash, rutabaga, celery root, warm cooked spiced grains, like oatmeal and amaranth. Include spices like turmeric, cumin, coriander, fenugreek, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, ginger, and cardamom, as well as healthy fats such as coconut milk, avocado, and ghee.

🍂Nourish yourself with a regular weekly practice of abhyanga, self-massage with sesame oil and essential oils such as sandalwood, patchouli, vetiver, jatamamsi, lavender, and cinnamon.

🍃Eat at or around the same time each day. Regular meal times create stability in the nervous and digestive systems. Don’t skip meals.

🍂Have proper evening routines to prevent insomnia and a surge of energy at night by avoiding your phone, and watching T.V. before bed.

🍃Carve out time to use and express your creativity. Whether drawing, painting, making jewelry, cooking, singing or dancing, vatas feel their best when there is a balance of both creative flow and movement along with a sense of ground and security.

These recommendations will bring you warmth and grounding energy this season! What’s your favorite vata balancing regimen? 👇🏻

When I first learned Ayurveda, I was 26 years old. It changed my life!

Now, 17 years later, it continues to impact my everyday living and I am in full gratitude to be on this journey of self-love.

Today, I want to share with you 3 ways Ayurveda has changed my life:

💗 Healing comes from within, no one can do it for you. Ayurveda helped me to answer the question: “what health means to me?” and to identify what serves me right now in this moment and what doesn't. What my 20-year-old self needed then is by far different than what I need now in my 40’s.

What brings me balance from day to day can be different and ayurveda has strengthened my intuition, given me self-care practices, and the courage to make decisions that are best FOR ME.

💗 Food is my medicine and the Pharmacy is my kitchen. Before discovering Ayurveda, I had severe digestive and hormonal imbalances, acne, was overweight, and emotionally unwell.

Ayurveda taught me how to eat more veggies, but also the benefits of whole grains, spices and eating for my mind-body constitution or dosha. The awareness of how food makes me feel, physically and emotionally is the greatest gift!

💗 My natural state of being is PEACE and LOVE. I continue to breathe into this knowing, every single day. Daily stressors, past traumas, and old ways of thinking can pull us away from our true nature. You can’t be grateful and overwhelmed at the same time.

You can’t have clarity and be confused at the same time. The self-care practices of Ayurveda such as spending time in nature, self-abyhanga, meditation, breathwork, and journaling, continue to keep me at a higher vibration and aligning with source which allows me to live with joy, peace and serve others.

If you’re learning and leaning into an ayurvedic lifestyle, be patient. Take your time. Enjoy the journey and love your whole self, every day! You deserve this.

Love,

Christina

🌕 Every Full Moon is an opportunity to look within, to expand, to grow, and come closer to your Soul.

🌕 Each Full Moon is different, as the Moon (feminine) and also the Sun (masculine) sit in different planets each time, bringing us a new lens of wisdom to work with, for our own evolution process as human beings, women, mothers, sisters, daugters, and healers.

Each sign carries a higher frequency and a lower frequency. The Full Moon shines light on the spaces where we’re aligning with the lower frequencies or extremes of the signs involved.

It is the perfect time to look inward, shift our own inner narrative, and release what doesn’t align with your purpose in this life.

It’s a time of opportunities and challenges, because in order to grow we must go to the edge, and step out of our comfort zone.

During this Circle we will be working with Aries + Libra energy. FIRE 🔥 and AIR 🌬

𝐈𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐢𝐫𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞! We gather to support each other, to open our hearts and be vulnerable with ourselves and with our story, we gather to Heal in community how are ancestors did.

Becuse we are tired of competing, we come to The Circle to lift each other, hold each other, and learn from each other as we unpack our story, process our emotions, and evolve.

The old ways are calling you, me, and the collective Feminine power.

Celebrating that we are finally getting cooler temperatures this week with this delicious Golden Milk 🍁

Golden Milk is all the rage and there’s a good reason!

𝑯𝒂𝒍𝒅𝒊 𝒅𝒐𝒐𝒅𝒉, or turmeric milk has been used traditionally in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries. It has many benefits and is recommended for indications of inflammation, poor digestion, poor circulation, cough, and more.

It is enjoyable before bed and can help with a restful night’s sleep. It’s a wonderful substitute for hot chocolate or your regular latte, and a great option for those that have an excess evening sweet tooth.

Try this recipe adding your own dash of love, and let us know what you think.

𝑰𝒏𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔:

1 cup milk or nut milk
pinch of ground cloves
1/2 tsp of ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp of ground cardamom
1/4 tsp ground pepper
1 inch piece fresh turmeric root, peeled and chopped
1/2 inch piece fresh ginger root, peeled and chopped
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
a dash of ground cinnamon or cardamom for dashing

𝑫𝒊𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔:

1. Pour milk into saucepan over medium-low heat.
2. Add spices, and reserve the honey and dash of cardamom, nutmeg or any other powdered spices you choose to dust the top of your latte.
3. Heat + whisk, whisk, whisk!
4. Bring to a steam, allowing herbs to infuse into milk for about 5 minutes.
5. Don’t walk away from your stove, keep whisking!
6. Pour into your favorite mug, sprinkle on the dusting of powdered spices and a squeeze of backyard honey.
7. Enjoy!

If you would like to see variations of this recipe and more details as to how each ingredient can be switched for your dosha or from morning ☀️to evening 😴, head to the Blog Post on our website ➡️ just write golden milk on the search bar.

Friday deserves a little bit of fun 👅

Stick out your tongue, what does it say about your health? | Jivha Pariksa

🔸 Examining your tongue should be approached with curiosity and is a beneficial practice that you can incorporate into your morning routine before tongue scraping.

🔸 Notice how the appearance of your tongue shifts according to what you eat, how you eat, your sleep patterns, and emotions.

🔸 This will deepen the connection with the constant communication that your body is sharing with you.

4 products to support your immune system this 𝑉𝑎𝑡𝑎 season 🍂🍁🍂

The weather is changing soon (hopefully🤞🏼), the kids are in school, and you’re probably getting into more of a fall routine! As we approach the cold and flu season, your best defense is to stay balanced using healthy choices and seasonal wisdom.

Ayurveda thrives on prevention, and that’s why I love this powerful combination to support the immune and respiratory systems.

1. 𝐄𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐲 - In addition to helping fight off disease when it strikes, Elderberry syrup can be taken daily as a wonderful preventative. About a month before the kids begin to go back to school, we take about a tablespoon each morning before heading out the door. We continue this through the spring.

2. 𝐂𝐡𝐲𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐡 - also known as “The Elixir of Life” is an Ayurvedic recipe developed by the sages living in the forests of the Himalayas. With Amla as the main ingredient, known as Indian Gooseberry, it serves as a rich source of vitamin C and antioxidants.

3. 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐢 𝐏𝐨𝐭 + 𝐍𝐚𝐬𝐲𝐚 - Using the neti pot several times a week offers cleansing support for sinuses which helps prevent allergies caused by pollen, dust, and mold as well as rids of excess mucus and congestion. Nasya is the administration of herbalized oil in the nostrils to cleanse, protect, lubricate and purify the sinuse and is practiced every morning.

Yoga for your Dosha 🪷

Yoga is the science of self-realization. Ayurveda is the science of self-healing. Practiced together, these sister-sciences are extraordinary for entering a state of body-centered restful awareness. 🧿

As we incorporate an ayurvedic lifestyle, personalizing your practice for your unique mind-body constitution or dosha, as well as consideration for the seasons can help you to receive the most benefits from your practice. 🧘‍♂️🧘‍♀️

Here are some guidelines for each dosha and it’s season:

Vata 🌬 Practice calming and grounding yoga poses to reduce anxiety and stress, and allow you to build strength and warmth.

Pitta 🔥 Build an inward practice, avoid comparing yourself to others in class, and lengthen your exhale to cool your body, release, and let go.

Kapha 🌊 Maintain your asanas for up to 20 breaths, creating heat in your body, and prevent lethargy and sluggishness.

Yoga awakens your senses, allows you to surrender, and gives you a felt sense of centered wholeness.

Whether you are predominantly Vata, Pitta, or Kapha, stay focused on your intention to stay present and take your yoga practice to a deeper level. We’ll see you on the mat!

“Yoga is the settling of the mind into silence. When the mind has settled, we are established in our essential nature, which is unbounded consciousness.” - Patanjali

A question we always get - read all about our Ayurvedic Consultation 🪷

At SimpleVeda we use the tools nature has given us to support you to be the best version of yourself and bring you to the life you were meant to live🍃

We are committed to providing you a holistic approach to your physical, mental and spiritual health where you are seen and heard while offering authentic ayurvedic consultations, body therapies, organic herbs, foods, and products.

During your wellness consultation, both a tongue and pulse diagnosis are taken. Pulse assessments have been used for thousands of years and there are several levels of the pulse or 𝐧𝐚𝐝𝐢.

The pulse assessment helps us understand:

🔸 Your constitution or 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐤𝐫𝐮𝐭𝐢
🔸 Your 𝐨𝐣𝐚𝐬 or immune system
🔸Your 𝐯𝐢𝐤𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐢 or nature of imbalances
🔸 The health of the 𝐬𝐮𝐛𝐝𝐨𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐬 of each of the 3 main 𝐝𝐨𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐬; 𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐚, 𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐚, and 𝐤𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐚
🔸 The health of your bodily channels

Your tongue diagnosis 👅 supports me in understanding the current health of your digestive system, how you are or are not absorbing foods, the state of your 𝐚𝐠𝐧𝐢, or digestive fire, the current state of your emotional well-being as well as the health and function of your organs 🫀

When you commit to living an Ayurvedic lifestyle, it’s life changing! You will create clarity on what you want, how you want to feel, and use your integrative plan to help you achieve 𝐬𝐯𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐡𝐚 – where body and mind are at ease and in perfect equilibrium – 𝚝𝚛𝚞𝚎 𝚋𝚕𝚒𝚜𝚜!

I am deeply honored to walk beside you on this journey. It’s what I love and do best and I can’t wait to meet you 💗

We can easily lose our power and our-self confidence when we experience grief, sadness, anger or anxiety - all of these emotions are vibrational connected.
