Meet Lauren, who designed this year's Sickle Cell Disease Awareness Month t-shirt. She was only a year old when it was discovered that she had sickle cell disease. Lauren's childhood looked different from her peers', but she remained resilient in her journey.❤️

Under the care of Dr. Olufunke Martin, Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist and Assistant Professor at UT Southwestern Medical Center, her daily treatments and medications have greatly improved her life.

Today, Lauren is 14 years old, loves computer games and hopes to someday become an artist – which is why her care team nominated her to design this year's t-shirt. 🎈
