As we watch the news, we are overwhelmed by painful videos and images of violence in communities across the country. đź’ś
The tragic, heart-wrenching death of Renee Nicole Good has both traumatized and re-traumatized many in and outside of Minnesota. In times like these, we must emphasize that if you are struggling, you deserve support from others and time to care for yourself.
🔹Step away from social media
🔹Call a loved one
🔹Contact community leaders
🔹Give yourself a break from the news cycle

We survive painful events together. Do not expect yourself to cope alone.

You don’t need to reinvent yourself.
You don’t need to start over.
You don’t need to meet anyone else’s expectations.
Try this affirmation as you ring in 2026:
✨ “I am enough as I am, and I am growing.”
From Trauma Support Services, may your New Year be filled with healing, hope, and gentleness.

Instead of resolutions, try this gentle approach as you enter the New Year:
đź’š Set an intention.
Some ideas to get you started:
“I will choose rest when I can.”
“I will be kinder to myself.”
“I will ask for help when I need it.”
Intentions honor growth, not perfection. Give yourself the care you deserve in 2026!

Before you rush into 2026, let's pause.
Take a moment and ask yourself:
🌱 What did I survive?
🌱 What did I learn?
🌱 What do I want to carry with me?
Every year comes with new challenges, struggles, joys, and opportunities for growth and change. Your resilience through it all deserves to be acknowledged.

However you spend today, you matter. Whether today brings celebration, quiet reflection, complicated emotions, or a mix of all three, you are worthy of kindness and care.
Here’s a grounding thought for today:
🌿 “I can choose what today needs to be for me.”
From all of us at Trauma Support Services, we’re holding space for you, and we wish you a peaceful Christmas. ❤️

We see you, and we understand how difficult this season may be for you.
Grief can feel sharper during the holidays.
Try this gentle practice when your heart is heavy:
đź’¬ Say their name.
🎄 Light a candle in their honor.
🕊 Allow joy and sadness to blend. Both are welcome in the grieving process.
Your love is not a burden, and your grief does not need to be hidden away.

Don't forget! In the midst of everything going on this season, holiday boundaries are healthy.
You’re allowed to:
âś” Say no
âś” Leave early
âś” Take breaks
âś” Protect your peace
âś” Choose who you spend time with
Healthy boundaries create space for healing, not conflict.

If you’re feeling lonely this season…You are not the only one.
Loneliness doesn't mean you’re doing something wrong. It means you’re human.
Try one of these connection tools today:
📞 Call one safe person
📚 Visit a library or community event
🕯 Light a candle and create a comforting space
🤝 Volunteer your time if you can
Connection doesn’t have to be big to be meaningful, and you have the power to decide what that looks like for you.

Holiday Stress is Real! Let’s Talk About It.
This season can bring financial pressures, family tension, grief, and exhaustion.
Try this re-centering prompt when things get overwhelming:
🌿 What’s one thing you can let go of this year?
Maybe it’s overgiving, overcommitting, or perfection.
Peace begins with permission.
