It is the vision of Sigma Phi Alpha to enhance the dental hygiene profession's role and image in the delivery of quality healthcare to the public.

The purpose of Sigma Phi Alpha is to promote, recognize, and honor scholarship, leadership, and service among dental hygiene students and graduates of dental hygiene programs.

So glad to call these people friends and coworkers. Had a blast getting numb today as weird as that sounds. We’re one step closer to officially opening our Local Anesthesia for Texas Dental Hygienists CE course in January 2025.

Wow we have so much catching up to do!
My name is Leah Spittle and I am now your SPA president ( just instated last night!) My hope is that we can all reconnect through this group FB page and I also will be working on getting a “group me” channel going so that we can connect throughout the year!

Last night was the 2022 Sigma Phi Alpha Induction Ceremony and Dinner. Another great event with wonderful people. Our three new student members are Lexie Potts, Van Nguyen, and Phillipa Rausch. Our new faculty member inducted was Kayla Reed. We also elected a new President, Shelley Bixler and new Treasurer/ Secretary Maureen Brown. Congratulations to all our new members!

Dear Sigma Phi Alpha members,

It saddens us to send this letter, but we are sure you will understand and will agree with the decision to cancel the Beta Chapter - 2020 Sigma Phi Alpha Luncheon and Induction Ceremony that was scheduled for May 2, 2020.
As you know, due to the current situation with COVID-19, state and local mandated restrictions prevent public events and gatherings. Although the SPA Luncheon is more than a month away, it is impossible to know what our restrictions will be in early May.
As a reminder, the purpose of Sigma Phi Alpha is to promote, recognize, and honor scholarship, leadership, and service among dental hygiene graduates. There could be no better opportunity than for each of us to lead and serve at a time such as this. We will be in touch throughout the year. For now, our wish for each of you is that you remain healthy!

Our Beta Chapter of Sigma Phi Alpha had a strong showing this Saturday as 23 of us turned out at Feed My Starving Children to make 14,064 food packs to be sent to families in Iraq. (To be honest, there were other groups there as well - we didn’t do ALL 14,064 packs all by ourselves!) but our group was rocking’ it!

It was great fun to spend time together, to use a Saturday morning to help others and to show that as always, if you want it done quickly and done right. . . . call a dental hygienist! We’d like to have more events that focus on helping others so join us next time!

LAST CALL! Our special Sigma Phi Alpha “giving back” event is taking place Saturday, December 7, 2019, 9:00-10:30 a.m. at Feed My Starving Children in Richardson. www.fmsc.org If you have done one of these events, you know they are fast paced and so fun! And, what makes this even better is that you can bring your family - children age 5 and up to work along side with you. What better way to start the season of giving?

Here’s the scoop:
• We have 14 people signed up and we have places for a total of 25 - So, WE NEED YOU if you have not decided to join us
• If you are already coming and you want to bring a friend or family member, just email me and let me know
• Send an email to Tonya Ray at tonyasray2013@gmail.com and let me know the names of those coming so I can register you
• Let’s show up in true Caruth fashion and fill all 25 places.

Calling all members of the Beta Chapter of Sigma Phi Alpha! Many of you have said you would like to have some events in addition to our annual new member induction dinner. So, Saturday, December 7, 2019, 9:00-11:00 a.m. we will work at a food packing event at Feed My Starving Children in Richardson. www.fmsc.org if you have done one of these events, you know they are fast paced and so fun! And, what makes this even better is that you can bring your family - children age 5 and up to work along side with you. What better way to start the season of giving? Here’s the part where you need to pay attention - - We could only get 25 spots on that date. In the email list the names and ages of everyone who is coming with you to work the event. Once the 25 spots are filled, we will start a wait list. We can wait to see you there!
