Some of you may have heard the term "3D Mammogram" but are not sure what it means. It's not like in a movie where you can see a full 360-degree view, but it does offer a more detailed image with multiple angles or "slices." Here is a comparison of 2D and 3D mammography. Besides seeing the individual rose petals, the 3D version would give the radiologist several more images to view.

If you need a mammogram, ask if you are eligible for 3D mammography. It's typically covered by insurance at no cost, and for those without insurance, our affiliated hospitals offer 3D mammography for only $149. With October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, we wanted to share some tips on how to prepare for a mammogram. If you need a mammogram, ask if you are eligible for 3D mammography. This technology provides your radiologist with more detailed images than traditional 2D mammography, and is typically covered by most insurances at no cost.

Our affiliated hospitals are proud to offer 3D mammography to our patients in an outpatient setting. For those without insurance or who do not want to use insurance, we offer a $99 2D cash price and a $149 3D cash price.

If you are in the North Dallas area, visit www.DallasMedCenter.com, or if you are in the Mesquite area, visit www.DallasRegionalMedicalCenter.com for more information.

Our expert shares tips for making this year's mammogram screening as comfortable as possible.

This is for all the diet soda lovers. Replacing sugar and/or high fructose corn syrup with artificial sweeteners is better for overall health, but people may still want to limit their intake of these man-made sweeteners.

Managing sugar intake is only one part of living a healthy lifestyle. One of the best preventive things people can do for better health is to see a primary care provider for an annual physical. If you haven't had a physical in awhile, now's a good time to make an appointment. A primary care provider can use the exam and labwork to help give you a good overall picture of your health and likely catch problems before they get out of hand. Visit www.DallasMedPhysicians.com to learn more about our clinics and providers.

If you love your diet sodas, there’s no reason for alarm yet, but there may be risks to consuming this sugar substitute.

There's no doubt summer is here, and with scorching temperatures all throughout the area, it's vitally important to take care of yourself. If you go outdoors, try to find shade as much as possible, make sure to wear sunscreen, and most importantly, stay well-hydrated.

With temperatures in triple digits pretty much every day, take a few minutes to learn the signs of heatstroke and heat exhaustion. If you or someone you know is exhibiting signs of either, seek immediate medical treatment.

Whereas heat exhaustion is related to dehydration and the cardiovascular system struggling to pump blood through the body, heatstroke occurs when a person’s body temperature gets so dangerously high that it begins overheating tissues and organs.
