A few weeks ago, Mind Above hosted a Women's Empowerment Group event. As a cisgender male clinician, I am fortunate to work with this group as the facilitator. Our discussions are real, introspective, supportive, and open to feedback of others in the group. Working with women in my practice continues to encourage me as a clinician to deepen my understanding of women's needs and be an ally that advocates.
I am also fortunate to partner with great people to expand what can be offered. During this event, we included trauma-informed yoga and iRest meditation provided by Shannon Thornton. She is amazing in every regard and so considerate of each person.
Here are a few pics from the event.
The arts & crafts surprise: Each attendee made their own keepsake keychain with positive affirmations and word charms.
1. They picked a word charm that they felt represented them now (hope, faith, kindness, brave, etc.)
2. They picked a word charm that they want to work to align with as a goal
3. They picked a word charm for each other and presented to each person in a one-on-one chat
They all took turns explaining what they chose and why. It was beautiful to see them truly embracing each other in such an uplifting way.
Women are awesome!
