There’s a huge colon in the lobby of Presbyterian Dallas Hospital. Come walk through it! It’s colore**al cancer awareness month, if you are 45 years or older, make sure and get your screening colonoscopy! It is an easy procedure, ask anyone who has had it. Colon cancer is the number one cancer killer in America and it is the only cancer preventable by a screening test. It is easy to call my office and schedule.

It was an exciting day at Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas! We were one of 10 hospitals in the country to get the new dV5 surgical robot, and I had the privilege to do the first two colon resections here, some of the first in the world on this system. Congratulations and thank you to the leadership at Texas Health Resources for acting quickly to get this system for our patients, and thank you to all the Presby surgical staff, administration, and the Intuitive team for making this happen so efficiently today!

Got my second dose a week ago. No issues at all. I encourage everyone to get the COVID vaccine as soon as it’s available. Millions have had it and there are very few problems. The sooner more are immune the sooner life can return to normal!

A new instructional video for robotic transanal excision of a large re**al polyp. This technique allows incredible visualization and precision for a minimally invasive approach. This polyp took up 3/4 of the re**al lumen circumference but was able to be excised full thickness and closed. The patient experienced almost no pain and went home the same day.

Alarming trend of younger people with colore**al cancer. Discussed with CBS Local last week. Tell your doctor if you’re having any symptoms of re**al bleeding or change in bowel habits, don’t ignore it!

Researchers at the University of Texas at Austin say data they've been looking at suggests colo-re**al cancer cases are up in people younger than 50.
