McKenna Farms would like to express our sincere appreciation to author and illustrator Brittany Lee Petish of True Heart Tails for helping us create our first ever children's book! She was instrumental in getting this project completed!

This meaningful story reflects the heart of our mission—sharing hope, healing, and encouragement through the powerful connection between children and horses. It was created to inspire young readers while highlighting the impactful work happening every day at McKenna Farms.

This beautiful story captures the heart of our mission—hope, healing, and the powerful bond between children and horses. "McKenna’s Promise" was created to inspire young readers and celebrate the magic that happens every day at McKenna Farms.

Please help us celebrate Sharon Hallberg, our January Volunteer of the Month! Sharon has been volunteering at McKenna Farms since February 2019, jumping right in after retiring—and we’re so grateful she did.

You’ll often find Sharon at the barn bright and early feeding our horses and cleaning stalls. She also lends a helping hand with our Horses Helping Heroes program. Sharon is always positive, energetic, and super helpful! Her dedication, reliability, and love for what she does truly shines.

Sharon originally volunteered because of her lifelong love of horses, but once she saw the impact McKenna Farms has on our clients, she knew this was where she wanted to be. She says her favorite part of volunteering is being around the horses and the people—our staff and fellow volunteers make every morning at the barn meaningful and fun.

One of Sharon’s favorite moments? Coming into the barn early in the morning, greeting each horse with a “good morning,” and starting the day in a peaceful, joyful way (even if the horses are mostly excited about their breakfast 😉). When it comes to favorite horses, Sharon loves them all!

Outside of the barn, Sharon enjoys the outdoors, camping, hiking, and traveling the world with her husband—having already visited 4 of the 7 continents!

Thank you, Sharon, for your heart, your time, and the care you give every day. We are so lucky to have you as part of the McKenna Farms family!

We are incredibly grateful to for their continued and generous support of McKenna Farms. Last month, they welcomed our Business Development Director, Randall Cowart, to share more about the Farm and the clients we serve—and presented us with a donation to help us continue providing vital therapy services to children and individuals with unique and special needs. Thank you for being such an important part of our mission!
