Dr. Barbara Baxter, Founder and Medical Director, envisioned a community clinic where people with limited access to healthcare could receive free medical services. The Agape Clinic (TAC) opened its doors in 1983 in a basement closet of Grace United Methodist Church, providing free healthcare on Saturday. Then, in 2000, TAC merged with Baylor Community Care, allowing The Clinic to expand to a four-
day week family medical practice clinic. At that time, partnerships grew with Dallas County Health, LabCorp, Americares and Direct Relief. These partnerships paved the way for the services provided at TAC to now include primary and urgent care, chronic disease management, dentistry, women's health, pediatrics, mental health awareness, ophthalmology, and dermatology. The Agape Clinic also provides care to the patients of over a dozen other nonprofits, including City Square, Human Right Initiative, Jubilee Park, Magdalen House, Redeemed Woman, and others. This means that every dollar given to The Agape Clinic creates $9 in Direct Medical Impact while bolstering the missions of multiple area nonprofits. Today, TAC is the only charity clinic without restrictions on who can receive our healthcare services. We greatly appreciate the opportunity to apply for this grant award to support the on-going needs of our patient population. From our humble beginnings over 37 years ago, The Agape Clinic has been able to maintain high quality healthcare services to the under-served populations in North Texas with no restrictions.
