Finally upgraded my license! I love the Counseling part of LPC, but not so much the License part. Thankfully the Board simplified and streamlined the process, making it much easier than what I had been dreading. Thanks Ly Tran, D.Min., LPC-S for your excellent supervision!

Now, being Professional is what I strive for, and it goes way beyond maintaining a license. Keeping up with development in the counseling field and constantly evaluating/screening through an integrative lens is a must for me. Blessed to have the opportunities to keep on growing as a counselor!

抑郁症不容忽视，特别是“伴有自杀意念或行为的抑郁症” MDSI (Major Depressive disorder with Suicidal Ideation)
1. ”相比于神经质或悲观消极的人格特征，外向乐观的性格可能是自杀的保护因素。然而，这绝不意味着拥有这种性格的人对自杀意念和行为完全“免疫”。值得注意的是，平时看上去乐观开朗的人一旦出现自杀倾向，往往更难被识别，突发性及危险性更高。“
2. ”抑郁症患者在出院后的数天至数月内自杀风险尤高，务必警惕！“ 这时特别需要身边的人的看护，确保环境的安全--严防身边有工具、途经。
3. 一般都有征兆。持续、严密关注的人基本都能查觉。不要忌讳、回避。直接关切寻问。得到确认后不要惊慌，更不要责怪，也不要说教。陪伴、守护直到自杀冲动平息。

面对疾病，无论生理上的还是心理上的，积极乐观的态度是必要的，但是病态严重的时候，光是正能量是不够的，需要寻求专业医治。这时一味的”正向思维“往往是掩耳盗铃、逃避现实，是低估、忽略或无视疾病的严重性，高估自身的能力。

务必寻求有正规资历、有经验的专业诊治！生理治疗(不止药物)和心理治疗并进。我和我的有经验的同事们都会有”安全计划“ safety plan. 当然，及时寻求帮助更好，不要等到已经有危机crisis了。
