Health and Wellbeing tips for Ayurveda, Yoga & Meditation
Operating as usual
I’m finally in love.
With my practice.
It used to be the thing I needed - the life hack to feel better.
A Weekly Rx: complete Asana practice twice a week. Daily plug ins to re-collect my mind and breath through mindfulness, meditation and or Yoga Nidra. Daily breath practice. From 5 minutes to 90 mins it had to be done. What a whip.
When I didn’t do it, my quality of life was impacted. And the people around me noticed. We all suffered!
I spent the season of global upheaval (spring 2020 through spring 2022) to dive deeper into the fundamentals - into the ancient practice of Vishoka Meditation.
Now I look forward to the deep feeling of joy and power that comes from any of the foundational practices that lead to Stage 1 Vishoka. I seek time in my schedule beyond my ‘minimum daily requirement’.
I look forward to the days when I have enough time for a ‘Full Practice’.
I don’t practice for medicine anymore. I practice because I’ve (re)found the space where my Divine Joy springs from.
Always there - just waiting to welcome me back Home.
This is the space of rainbows and light. This is the space where no pain and suffering can enter. This is Vishoka - and it begins to imbue your days and nights with more vibrancy.

Personal Practice: If it was easy, everyone would be enlightened. But it takes work. It takes time. Its not just one thing or modality.
It’s personal and unique to each of us and requires we look into our shadows as well as our light.
Move the body, train the breath, master your momentum, listen to your higher intelligence, go to therapy, journal - do what you gotta do, boo. You’re not alone, we’re doing it alongside you.

Quantum Physics: How Thoughts Create Reality
Quantum physics has shown that our experiences in the physical world are deeply connected to the inner workings of our minds.
Our minds create perceptions, and our perceptions result in chemical changes in our bodies that ultimately affect our biology. In other words, how we think has an effect on how we feel. And how we feel, in turn, affects how we think.
So, if we wake up every morning feeling anxious or thinking that life is a struggle, then our brains will initiate the production of stress hormones (cortisol, norepinephrine, adrenaline, etc.), which inevitably shut off our immune system, our growth, and our ability to think. More on the fight-or-flight stress response here.
Now, imagine what would happen if we felt this way day in and day out.
Needless to say, we must break this cycle if we are to achieve mind-body-spirit wellness…

what is your eating IQ?
Living Yoga Dallas Blog: This may be why your diet isn't working... by Kirsten Joy Burch. It’s not just about what you eat, but how you eat it that impacts your weight management routine.
When I was a corporate worker, meal time was a major inconvenience- taking time away from my work / life schedule to ‘do the needful’ - to fuel up. We would eat in the car, during meetings or on con calls, and before the last bite was swallowed, we were on our way to the next task or project. This reckless lifestyle contributed to inflammation and stagnation leading to chronic pain and disease....read on 👉👉 https://bit.ly/3Bap5iy

Dr. Svoboda's June Update
This month’s full moon is known in Sanskrit as Vata Purnima. Not vata like in Ayurveda, but with a retroflex “t” instead, a word that means “banyan tree”, in honor of the story of Savitri and Satyavan.
When Savitri discovers that her fiancé Satyavan is destined to die in one year she still insists on marrying him, and three days before his predicted death she begins to fast and focus, seated under a banyan tree. Satyavan dies as foretold, his head in Savitri’s lap, and Yama the god of Death himself comes to claim the soul of Satyavan.
Savitri then follows Yama as he carries the soul away. He tries to convince her to turn back, she refuses, they engage in an extended conversation, he offers her any wish except the life of Satyavan, she asks for various things and finally requests a hundred children for herself and Satyavan, which of course can only come true if Satyavan comes back to life. Yama then revives Satyavan and blesses them both with long life.
Inspired by this story many women in North and West India observe a fast and tie threads around a banyan tree, praying for the well-being of their husbands, on this occasion.
There are always many levels to an Indian myth, and for this myth the many previous weeks of hot dry summer generally render June northern India’s “deadest” month of the year. The return of the rains then (almost miraculously) rejuvenates the world and society and impregnates Earth with new life.
✨✨✨This year it seems particularly appropriate that the moon will be full in Mula nakshatra. Mula means “root”, and is ruled by the goddess Nirrti, who causes deterioration disintegration and calamity. Often known as Alakshmi (“Madame Anti-Prosperity”), Nirrti fosters scarcity and deficiency.
👉🏼 But roots grow in soil, and soil is composed of various substances that were one whole but had to undergo breakdown that they might then serve to nourish new life.
💛 Be aware, therefore, that the challenges that this celestial event may induce in our lives are essential steps in the regeneration that will follow. Next month’s full moon, which will be Guru Purnima, will facilitate this. May all gurus bless us as we transit these trials.
