🌟 Client Spotlight: Cheryl Colen 🌟

Meet Cheryl Colen! At 64, Cheryl brings strength, consistency, and a bright spirit to MoveStudio. You’ll find her in class 3–4 times a week, showing up strong in Upper Body, Lower Body, Mat Pilates, and Functional Yoga.

Originally from Austin and a proud UT grad (hook ’em 🤘), Cheryl has been married to her husband Randy for almost 38 years. Their two kids—and new daughter-in-law—live nearby, but it’s their doodles, Lola and Jasper, who rule the roost at home 🐾

She enjoys travel, mah jongg, pickleball, reading, walking, and staying active—and says MoveStudio has made a big difference:

Celebrating 17 Years of Strength with Gretchen Acevedo!

Today we are spotlighting the inspiring Gretchen Acevedo! At 79, Gretchen is a true example of living actively and joyfully. She’s been a beloved part of the MoveStudio community since 2008—17 years of showing up for herself and embracing wellness through Upper and Lower Body Strength classes, Yoga, Pilates, and special workshops like Candlelight Yoga.

Born and raised in southwest Ohio, Gretchen met her husband in Cleveland, where he ran a chain of record stores—yes, they got to meet some music legends! Now living in Dallas since 1980, she enjoys time with her extended family, including two step-sons, granddaughters, and a son she reconnected with in 2018, along with his beautiful family.

In retirement after 29 years with the Town of Addison, Gretchen stays active with travel, music, reading, and needlework. She says, “I have aches and pains, but after each class, I feel better and stronger. If I ever stop going, get out the wheelchair!” We’re so grateful for Gretchen’s energy, humor, and dedication—she inspires us all.

⭐️ Client Spotlight: Jane Burns-Jackson ⭐️

At 84, Jane Burns-Jackson is a shining example of the strength, grace, and joy that come from a lifelong movement practice. A dedicated yoga student for 25 years—most of that time right here at MoveStudio—Jane says, “Yoga has kept me quite agile in my body, and the meditation keeps my soul very comfortable.”

She’s a regular in Tida’s classes and treasures the friendships she’s formed through the studio community. Outside the studio, Jane loves reading, traveling, and spending time with her beautiful blended family, which includes 5 children, 9 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Jane, thank you for inspiring us with your presence and spirit!

♥️ Client Spotlight: Iris Newman ♥️

At 72, Iris Newman is a vibrant example of whole-body wellness in action. She takes an average of FIVE classes a week—both in-person and livestream—including Nia, Latin Cardio, Upper Body Strength, Mat Pilates, and Functional Yoga. Since moving back to Dallas from Boston six years ago, Iris has found not only a fitness home at MoveStudio, but also a warm and welcoming community of friends.

While dance was her first love, she now embraces a well-rounded routine that includes yoga and Pilates, helping her feel stronger and more balanced. A lifelong learner, Iris enjoys reading, flowers, and exploring the mind-body connection—something that enriches both her personal journey and her work as a psychotherapist. With more time to travel, she’s happily checking off bucket list adventures with family and friends.

NEW TUESDAY EVENING PRENATAL YOGA CLASS BEGINS JULY 22

🌸 We’re thrilled to welcome Danyell Taylor to the MoveStudio teaching faculty! Danyell brings a warm, community-focused approach to her classes, drawing from her background in youth education and her passion for accessible wellness. She specializes in prenatal yoga, postpartum recovery, and yoga for children—and we’re so excited for you to experience her nurturing and empowering teaching style.

🌸 Join her for our new weekly Prenatal Yoga class on Tuesdays at 6:15 PM, starting July 22. Now expecting Mamas will have TWO options for Prenatal Yoga--our new Tuesday evening class, and Saturday mornings at 8:30.

❤️ CLIENT SPOTLIGHT: CONNIE HERSHEY ❤️

Meet Connie Hershey—an energetic and dedicated part of our MoveStudio family for the past 20 years! At age 75, Connie continues to show up for herself through Pilates, Full Body Fitness, and Strength classes 1–2 times a week (and even more in the summer!). Strength training has helped improve her bone density, while Pilates supports her balance, flexibility, and core.

Connie is a lifelong mover and educator, entering her 55th year in education this fall—30 of those as an Instructional Coach in RISD. She even taught fitness classes for parents and teachers back in the ’80s! She and her husband Bruce have lived in Prestonwood West for 20 years, just down the street from her 96-year-old mother. When she's not working with RISD, taking classes at MoveStudio, or spending time with friends and family, she's playing golf and Bent Tree Country Club and during annual vacations in Colorado.

Thank you Connie for your dedication to MoveStudio and your own health! 🙏🏼
