Maggy The Dietitian Hi, I’m Maggy! Founder of a national dietetics practice, eating disorders specialist, and business coach for dietitians.

When I first started my private practice, one of the hardest parts wasn’t seeing clients, billing insurance, or hiring dietitians… it was not having all the answers. I remember spending hours on Google and in Facebook groups trying to piece things together, second-guessing myself, and feeling like I was on an island doing this alone. Looking back, I don’t wish I knew more… I wish I had more support and help from other RDs who’d been there before. A place to ask questions, get perspective, vent when things felt hard, and feel validated in the process.

That’s exactly why I created group business coaching for dietitians… so you don’t have to spend hours searching for answers when you could get them in one conversation. Whether you’re a solo practice owner trying to figure out how to start, automate, and grow your practice or you’re a group practice owner trying to maximize your revenue, manage a team, or build your leadership team, I’ve got a place for you.

Dietitian Business Coaching for Solo Practice Owners: This group is restarting in May and will meet Thursdays from 10–11 AM CST. Cost is $30/session or $150/month (includes DBN access).

Dietitian Business Coaching for Group Practice Owners: This group meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays from 11A-12PM CST. Cost is $40/session or $150/month (includes DBN access).

If you’ve been feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just craving more support… this is your sign you don’t have to do this alone anymore 🤍

There’s a well-known experiment called the Marshmallow Challenge.

In this experiment, different groups of people are given the exact same task: kindergartners, business school students, CEOs, and even lawyers.

Each group gets spaghetti, tape, string, and one marshmallow- and they’re told to build the tallest structure possible with the marshmallow on top.

You’d expect the adults—the business professionals, the MBA students—to win.

But they don’t.

Kindergartners consistently build taller, more stable structures.

And the reason is simple…

The adults spend most of their time planning, strategizing, and assuming they understand how the structure should work…

And then at the very end, they put the marshmallow on top- and it collapses.

The kindergartners do the opposite.

They start building right away.
They test things.
They fail quickly.
They adjust.
They learn how the system works by doing it.

And honestly… that’s exactly how I learned how to build a business.

In my early years, I learned through mistakes… and a lot of trial and error.

Denied claims.
Bad hires.
Saying yes to the wrong path.
Taking business decisions personally.
Writing off services I thought would be covered.

That’s how I learned how to build a business- by turning my mistakes into a DIY “MBA.”

Looking back, I can see that I wasn’t failing- I was learning on the go.

And if I’m being honest… some of those lessons were expensive.
They cost me money, time I won’t get back, and sanity I had to restore.

But they also shaped how I think, how I lead, and how I build now.

My takeaway for you today… don’t be afraid of making a mistake (or mistakes).

Mistakes can actually catapult you further than the “perfect path” could have.

They teach you lessons faster than waiting, overthinking, or trying to get everything right the first time ever will.

They give you clarity.
They build resilience.
They move you forward.

So instead of avoiding them… learn to use them.

Heyyyya! Allow me to reintroduce myself... I’m a Registered Dietitian and Certified Eating Disorder Specialist Consultant based in North Dallas (Grapevine office coming soon!), and I currently accept BCBS. I’m accepting new clients!

But more importantly.... outside of client care, I specialize in business coaching for clinicians.

If you’re a clinician trying to figure out how to start, scale, and stay sane while running your practice… I’d love to support you.

After building a 30+ person group practice across 7+ locations, my passion is helping others confidently create a private practice that actually supports their life, values, and sanity- not the other way around.

If you’re looking for a business friend who gets it, I’m your girl 🤍

What do you wish you knew before you started your private practice? What would you do over again vs what would you do totally differently?

This is the story I shared at OKeatright yesterday… the ups and down, the mistakes and the successes, and the stories that go me to from my first to my second private practice.

I did so much wrong, and also so much right, that landed me to where I am today. There’s nothing more than I love than sharing my private practice story in the hope that it motivates someone to start or grow their private practice.

Hoping to turn this chat into a raw podcast episode in the coming weeks 🎙️

After taking a few years away from the clinician's chair, I'm thankful to be back chatting directly to clients about all things food, body, life, and alllll the things in between!

There's nothing more rewarding than empowering someone in their journey through simply giving a new perspective, offering new ideas, and being their cheerleader.

If you've never seen a dietitian, this may be your sign.

I work with:
- Athletes trying to improve their performance
- Those struggling with disordered eating or eating disorders
- Someone trying to make food less complicated and overwhelming
- That person annoyed with the advice they've received from doctors about their health conditions or weight

Currently accepting:
- Insurance: BCBS & Aetna
- In-person appointments (North Dallas + coming soon Grapevine!!!)
- Virtual

They say hindsight is 50/50...

And, looking back to my private practice career, about 50% of the decisions I’d do over and over again, and about 50% of the decisions I would 100% do differently.

My private practice career has been one of the most rewarding and overwhelming journeys. My story started back 7 years ago in May of 2019, when I decided to leave my full-time job and take a chance on myself. But, it wasn’t even a chance at the time - it was my calling, my passion, and the only possible route I envisioned myself in. Over the past 7 years, there have been late nights, early mornings, long days, stressed relationships, broken relationships, incredible mistakes made, and life-altering lessons learned.

Today, I’m going to share a glimpse into the decisions that were right AND wrong for me, so that you can walk away from today’s newsletter feeling validated, supported, and ready to build your dream private practice better than I did.

WHAT I DID RIGHT:
1. I did all the non-revenue-generating, annoying, tedious tasks first.
2. I did all the things I could have paid someone to do myself.
3. I waited till I had enough clients lined up.
4. I hired my friends first.

WHAT I DID WRONG:
1. Hired the wrong person.
2. Made decisions that weren’t aligned with my values.
3. Had zero idea of how to pay myself.
4. Had even less of an idea of how to pay my team.
5. Couldn’t figure out when TF to hire.

✨ Want to hear more? Stay tuned for the full story at the Oklahoma Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics on 4/9 from 10:45-11:45 AM, plus a podcast and blog post to come :)

Nothing is more rewarding than helping a dietitian grow their practice, expand their reach, and increase their confidence 💙

Pinch me that I get to do this... Can't think of anything cooler to do than mentor other dietitians, share the business lessons I've learned, and help someone grow their practice.

It's like a beautiful cascading waterfall that I can help group practice owner, help dietitians, help clients. Gosh how cool🥺

🥰 I am SO proud of and her ever-growing, ever-evolving practice ! Thank YOU for your kind words and I can't wait to continue to watch you grow, expand, and build your empire!
