Today, on the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, we honor the bravery and sacrifice of the Greatest Generation. More than 16 million Americans answered the call to serve—including Dr. Randolph Scheen, now 100 years old, a proud U.S. Navy Seabee and resident of Belmont Village Senior Living St. Matthews.

As a young man, Dr. Scheen landed on the beaches of Iwo Jima in 1945, showing courage during one of the war’s most pivotal and harrowing battles. His service, and that of all who served, continues to inspire us today. 🙏❤️

As students head back to school, so do our residents, thanks to our partnerships with leading nationwide universities including UC Berkeley, UCLA and Rice University - Glasscock School of Continuing Studies. Through interactive lesson plans, group activities and stimulating discussion prompts, our residents are embracing the same excitement and curiosity that younger generations experience during back-to-school season. We know that intellectual engagement is just as vital to well-being as staying active and socially connected. In honor of World Senior Citizen's Day, we are spotlighting the powerful role our residents are playing in shaping, inspiring, and enriching the world around them. 🌎✨ Each year, our Belmont Blooms campaigns encourage residents to explore sustainability through creative, community-focused initiatives, ranging from farm-to-table dining and upcycling projects to sustainable fashion shows. Our Belmont Blooms campaign really focuses on deepened connections and raised awareness of older adults’ roles in giving back and shaping their local communities. We are grateful to our incredible staff and residents who continue to make a difference each year. 🌟🏆💕

Happy National Couples Day! 💕✨ Today, we’re celebrating Jan & Otto, one of our beautiful couples who found love at our Belmont Village Senior Living Lakeway community three years ago where their love story began in Bible Study. From reading scripture together to staying fit, they share a deep bond, and one of their favorite traditions is color coordinating their outfits every day! Jan and Otto's love story reminds us that finding love and creating special moments are timeless. 🥂💖

Today, we honor Vincent L., one of our incredible Belmont Village Senior Living Fort Lauderdale residents, whose dedication shaped generations of future leaders. From 1969 to 1988, he served as Chairman of the U.S. Naval Academy Committee for Accreditation of Engineering Programs. His leadership established and maintained nationally accredited programs that continue to uphold excellence at the Academy.

Our hearts are with the families and communities impacted by the devastating flooding across Central Texas on July 4-5. While we are thankful that our Texas communities, residents and staff were safely out of harm’s way, we are deeply saddened by the loss and damage suffered by our friends and neighbors in our home state.

In Loving Memory of Eloise “Lulu” Peck 🕊️❤️

Our Belmont Village family is completely heartbroken as we mourn the loss of Eloise “Lulu” Peck who tragically lost her life in the recent Central Texas floods. Lulu was just eight years old, yet she left an unforgettable mark on those who knew her.

Lulu’s heart overflowed with kindness, joy and a deep love for animals. This summer, she started a dog-walking business, choosing to donate 25% of her earnings to Blueberry Hill Farm and Rescue. In her memory, our residents and staff are coming together to support Lulu’s Memorial Fund at Blueberry Hill Farm and Rescue. The fund will help care for animals in need and support the construction of Lulu’s Puppy Hut, a shelter named in her honor that will offer comfort and safety to foster puppies until they find their forever homes.

Eloise (Lulu)  Peck was a bright, joyful spirit who brought warmth and laughter into every life she touched. At just eight years old, her profound love and compassion for animals shone brightly, reflecting the purity and kindness of her heart. She started a dog walking service this summer with 25% of her earned proceeds going to Blueberry Hill Farm and Rescue. 
In honor of Lulu’s beautiful life and the extraordinary love she held for animals, Blueberry Hill Farm and Rescue has established this memorial fund. Your generous donation will continue Lulu’s legacy by helping to provide care, love, and support to animals in need.  Missy and Tim will be notified when a donation has been made.

Together, we will keep Lulu’s memory alive, nurturing hope and healing for animals.  Lulu’s name will forever live on at BHFAR with a newly constructed shelter officially being named Lulu’s Puppy Hut.  This shelter will provide much-needed warmth, safety, and a loving place for our foster puppies to stay until we find their forever homes …We will cherish our sweet Lulu, her name and her love of animals daily here at our rescue farm 💙🫐💙
