🎨💬 The Art of Friendship 💬🎨

We are so excited to bring art + social skills together for 8 weeks of creativity, connection, and FUN at KidArt Dallas!

Led by:
Kourtney Lieberman – Speech Therapist (SpeakEasy)
Tori Pendergrass – Art Teacher (KidArt)

Each week, kids will use art projects to practice:

Making & keeping friends
Expressing emotions
Joining in play
Problem solving
Communicating with confidence

Having so much fun in our Social Circles class at !!!

We are learning all about our emotions using The Color Monster book & practicing our social skills while playing some of our favorite games, including Chutes & Ladders and Pop the Pirate!

Today in Social Circles: We used the “Conversation Measuring Cup” visual to discuss how we can use clues to determine how much we should talk when it’s our turn in a conversation. Students played a game of dominoes where they took turns giving short and long responses during conversations about various topics. We had so much fun sharing about ourselves and learning about others!

We had so much fun in our first Social Circles group yesterday! Towards the end of class, students broke into small groups and played some of their favorite games. They had the opportunity to engage in conversation, compromise, demonstrate good sportsmanship and use effective communication skills to build new friendships!

Today in Feeding Therapy: We focused on getting comfortable with using an oral syringe by making it fun! We painted with water and food coloring, showing how playing with it first can make it easier to take medication, vitamins, or other liquids later on. We also explored new foods like apple chips and enjoyed a few favorites like potato chips. The focus was on making feeding a fun & positive experience.
