May 1st
May 1st, my Daddy’s Birthday!!!!! May 1st in parts of the world including Nigeria is regarded as a public holiday tagged Workers Day. I always joked that the day daddy was born the heavens sang and the world had no choice but to declare a public holiday and give a logical reason for doing that hence the creation of workers day!
Growing up, May 1st was never an ordinary day in the Aribiah household. There was always some form of celebration. Daddy’s eclectic group of friends, kinsmen, colleagues, non biological sons and daughters would visit our home and there would be food and drinks. Raised voices and laughter filled every corner of our home on May 1st every year.
Even after daddy passing, May 1st is still etched in my heart as his special day.
It’s the day i remember and miss him the most.
Oh! My precious daddy! I thank God I was blessed to call you father!
You live on daddy.
Oberu lives on!
Oberu’s legacy lives on!
I love you forever!
Till we meet again.
Rest well Daddy Ayim!
