Sometimes, offering the right image or resource can make the difference between a student dancing in a crunched and compact way or feeling the freedom of their fullest kinesphere. Helping students to find their biggest movement potential takes creativity and persistence, but should always find its w...

2022/02/08 - On the 8th of the 🧧 Chinese New Year, may your life be as perfect as this circle!
☯️ What’s the Taiji Circle in your practice? Why is it important to understand this multi-dimensional circle?
"Taijiquan has a direct and close connection with the circle. Taijiquan is a kind of boxing method formed by countless circles. No matter how much you move your hands or move your feet, you can't leave this circle. If you leave this circle, you will violate the principles of Taiji. "
"Philosophers usually praise the circle with its static beauty, while Tai Chi expresses the circle with its dynamic beauty."
“太極拳與圓具有直接的緊密的聯繫。太極拳是由無數的圓圈連貫而成的一種拳法。無論一舉手一投足皆不能離開這個圓圈,離了這個圓圈便違背了太極的原理.”
“哲學家們通常是以靜態之美去讚美圓,而太極拳則是以動態之美來表現圓.”
Kicking off the 7th day of 🧧Chinese New Year, “May Seven Star Shine Brightly Guiding You to Health & Happiness”.
大年初七,㊗️ 七星高照 ✨ 💫 ✨ 身心安康
It is a constellation that can bring seven auspicious stars of "Fortune, Prosperity, Longevity, Wealth, Joy, Literature, and Marriage".
🧧 Thursday, 02/04/2022, 立春, is the first day of spring and the Vernal Equinox!
**An old myth claims you can stand an egg on its end ONLY during the Vernal Equinox, when day and night are equal in length. Supposedly, this is because there is equal gravity between the Earth and the sun on that day. But that's a myth! In reality, you can stand an egg on end any day.
🥰 However, I personally find it easier to stand on my own one leg. And whichever you choose to do, it symbolizes how your year will begin - balance, poise and stability.
So, I invite you, my (Taiji) friends, to try either the Egg Balancing or/and the Standing on one leg posture (use support if necessary to be safe).
❤️ May you find Balance and Harmony in you life. May Health and Happiness be with you always!

On the bottom of an egg you will find tiny bumps in the shell. Those bumps are simply irregularities in the eggshell that hold the egg up (similar to legs).
🎈 Happy New Year 🎈

Be sure to make the structure diverse enough in skill level to accommodate all students. “Approach the class so everyone is encouraged but also pushed appropriately,”

Never put a young dancer in a position that would compromise the integrity of the ligaments or encourage them to overstretch (such as in oversplits). And if you have a hypermobile dancer, focus on helping them develop the muscle strength to safely control that extra flexibility.
No matter the specific stretch, dancers need to learn to listen to their bodies, and to understand that pain is always an indicator that they should pull back.
With the dance world's growing emphasis on flexibility, it's normal to see increasingly younger children doing splits, tilts and other extreme stretches. It's e

To challenge your students—and yourself—vary the music you use in class. “As teachers we sometimes fall into doing the same things over and over,” says Sallid. “It’s important to be a student as well as a teacher.”
For San Francisco Bay Area–based tap teacher Micah Sallid, musicality is a skill to be practiced, just like time steps or paddle and rolls. “Some people
