đ¨Period nerd alert!
The menstrual cycle is where itâs at!
đHormones CYCLE! Theyâre never the same throughout your month. Without this fluctuation, periods donât happen!
đ¤Why the fluctuations?? Your brain and your ovaries have to communicate to get an egg ready to go! FSH from the brain talks to the o***y and thatâs where estradiol comes into the picture. Got enough estrogen and an egg ready??? Now the brain makes leutinizing hormone (LH). Ever done an ovulation predictor kit on your urine? Yep! Thatâs LH in your urine signaling the o***y to ovulate. Once that happens, progesterone enters the room!
If you get pregnant, the period doesnât come and hormones rise. If you donât get pregnant, hormones fall and the period comes. Then, start it all over again.
â°ď¸The difference between these regular cycles of your 20s and 30s and perimenopause?? Those hormone fluctuations are no longer predictable rounded humps like you see in the picture. They are often mountains and valleys and your body isnât used to that!
đŁThe result of this erratic fluctuations: đЏUterus: cycle irregularity, heavier cycles, fibroids grow, adenomyosis, polyps, uterus cancer risk.
đ§ Brain: anxiety, depression, migraines, hot flashes (yes, they come from the brain), SLEEP disturbance, brain fog)
âď¸Weight gain
đŚGenitals: pain w s*x, urinary issues
đĽMusculoskeletal aches and pains
đľSkin and hair changes
â¤ď¸Palpitations..and so much more!
YOU NAME IT! Itâs all possible. Put all those together and add in some stress, fatigue and just plain LIFE and we get low libido!
đListen to your symptoms! Labs might not catch whatâs going on and still having your period doesnât mean perimenopause isnât affecting you!! đŤśđť
