China Starr, ACC ICF Anxiety Coach

China Starr, ACC ICF Anxiety Coach I am an experienced ICF ACC Life Coach with a background in psychiatry. See more in my about section. This is personal for me. I am an ICF accredited ACC Coach.

I offer practical methods to cope with anxiety in all of its forms and to build resilience and well-being in a safe, supported space. For me, life coaching is more than a profession — it is my life’s passion and purpose. I am an advocate for mental health, and I am committed to bringing hope, support, and relief to as many people as possible, regardless of their background. I have navigated through challenging life experiences and my own struggles with anxiety. My journey through these difficult circumstances deepens my commitment to support others facing similar issues. Around the world, countless people navigate the ups and downs of life while silently battling anxiety and stress. Trying to balance work, family, and other responsibilities at the same time can take a toll on our mental health and well-being. Without adequate support and intervention, chronic anxiety and stress can lead to significant mental and physical health issues. By creating a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space, I encourage clients to explore their deepest aspirations, confront their fears, and embrace their journey of healing and lasting change. I specialize in helping clients understand and manage their anxiety through evidence-based interventions like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Positive Psychology Coaching techniques. I provide tools and strategies to cope with daily stressors, enabling clients to lead more balanced and fulfilling lives. My approach goes beyond symptom management to address the root causes of anxiety, fostering long-term resilience and mental health. My work helping clients manage anxiety involves not only immediate coping strategies but also long-term behavioral changes that foster mental health and emotional stability. In my previous role as a psychiatric clinical assistant, I received intensive training and gained significant insights into mental health and human behavior. This experience has been crucial in shaping my approach to coaching, allowing me to offer support that addresses both psychological and practical aspects. By using behavioral therapy techniques in a coaching context, I offer practical approaches to enable clients to modify their behaviors, improve their emotional regulation, and to develop better coping strategies. In 2017, I finished my initial training. An accreditation by the International Coaching Federation means intensive training, continuing education, and a vow to uphold the highest standards. I have over 4,500 hours of coaching experience. This has been an incredible privilege, and I am committed to continuing my mission to help others. Confidentiality: Trust is essential for the success of our coaching relationship. Everything involving our coaching relationship and sessions is entirely confidential. I will not even reveal that you are my client. No names or details are discussed with the “outside world”; our sessions are a safe place. Are you familiar with life coaching? This is a great poem by Morgan Harper Nichols.

It reminds us to slow down, accept things as they are, and find peace in the present rather than focus on what might come next. We can grow and heal without needing to have all the answers.

Whether Christian or not, the majority of us are familiar with “Love your neighbor as you love yourself.” An interesting thing about this is that it implies that we do love ourselves. This can be a difficult thing to actually do in practice.

So many of us have an ingrained critical inner voice. We may say things to ourselves that we wouldn’t say to others. Thankfully we can learn to change the way that we talk to ourselves. Some of the kindest people I know struggle to show themselves the same kindness. The way that we talk to ourselves matters!

Our Story

Definition

Positive Psychology Coaching/Therapy is a mutually beneficial partnership that is focused on your future and maximizing the potential that you already possess. During this process, we converse in a special way that is completely focused on your needs, desires, and interests. The biggest difference between what I do and traditional therapy is the positive approach that is forward-focused, helping you to identify your “big picture” goal: What do you want your life to be like? Coaching helps you to identify what things in your life now need to change in order to achieve this. In each session we will discuss things that will be of the most benefit to you. I am committed to helping you in the areas that you desire, including helping you to identify challenges and roadblocks, and turning those into victories! Every client/patient deserves a coach/therapist who truly believes in their your potential and sponsors you along your journey. The vast majority of what I do is based on Positive Psychology.

What Is Positive Psychology?

Positive psychology has been described in many ways and with many words, but the commonly accepted definition of the field is this:“Positive psychology is the scientific study of what makes life most worth living.” (Peterson, 2008) To push this brief description a bit further, positive psychology is a scientific approach to studying human thoughts, feelings, and behavior with a focus on strengths instead of weakness, building the good in life instead of repairing the bad, and taking the lives of average people up to “great” instead of focusing solely on moving those who are struggling up to “normal” (Peterson, 2008).
