Teenagers may hide their struggles, but there are signs caregivers, family members, and supportive adults can watch for:

🔹Persistent sadness or irritability
🔹Withdrawal from friends, family, or activities they once enjoyed
🔹Sudden changes in school performance, sleep, or appetite
🔹 Expressions of hopelessness or self-criticism
🔹 Increased risk-taking or self-harming behaviors

If you notice these behaviours, approach your teen with openness and empathy. Listen without judgment, validate their feelings, and reassure them they are not alone.

Seeking guidance from a mental health professional can provide essential support and tools for both you and your child, helping you navigate these challenges safely and effectively. Early intervention can make a significant difference.

Recovery is possible, even when it feels far away.

National Recovery Month celebrates the strength of individuals who have taken steps towards healing, and the support systems that helped them along the way.

Small progress matters, and every step forward counts. 🌱

Whether you're supporting someone in recovery or on your own path, remember that reaching out for help is a sign of resilience, not weakness.

🔹Giving away belongings
🔹Talking about “being a burden.”

These signs should never be ignored. If you recognize them in yourself or someone close, it’s important to act early.

Breaking the silence around overwhelming thoughts creates space for healing and hope.

Checking in on loved ones, asking “Are you okay?” and listening without judgement can save lives.

Low days happen, but when sadness lingers it can feel overwhelming. 🌿

Self-care strategies can ease the weight.

🔹Going for a short walk
🔹Limiting alcohol & other substance use
🔹Reaching out to a trusted friend,
🔹Practising grounding techniques that help you stay present and calm. Here are some that you can try:
1. Engage Your Senses: Notice 5 things you see, 4 you touch, 3 you hear, 2 you smell, and 1 you taste.

2. Breathe Deeply: Try box breathing—inhale for 4 seconds, hold 4, exhale 4, hold 4.

3. Connect with Your Body: Press your feet into the floor, stretch, or hold a cold object.

4. Focus Your Mind: Count backward from 100, recite a favorite poem, or name cities starting with a letter.

5. Self-Soothing: Listen to calming music, sip a warm drink slowly, or enjoy a comforting scent.

Taking care of your mental health is just as vital as looking after your physical wellbeing.

Seeking mental health care is not a lack of faith in God—it’s a step toward healing and strength. Stigma grows in silence, but healing starts when we speak the truth. It sets us free.

Taking care of your mental health is an act of courage and self-love—not a luxury or weakness. Call us at (817)350-4377 or visit https://buff.ly/2VtjXl6

During BIPOC Mental Health Awareness Month, we recognize that mental health support isn’t always accessible for BIPOC communities.

Barriers like racism, stigma, language barriers, and fear of being misunderstood often make seeking care harder.

These challenges are real, and so is the urgent need to break them down and create change.
