Perspective...

We can’t always control our circumstances… but we can control our response to them!

As part of our daily inventory today maybe we all take a look at the words coming out of our mouths. Do they help us? Do they help others? Do they build up or tear down?

“From the fruit of their mouth a person’s stomach is filled; with the harvest of their lips they are satisfied. The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭18:20-21‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Maybe your words aren’t bad, but could they be even better today?

Ministers - Invitation to join BH Carroll Theological Institute, September 19 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for their Brown Bag Luncheon, “From Grievance Story to Forgiveness: Helping Clients Heal from Relational Wounds.” The session will be taught by Dr. Scott Floyd. (available in person or online)

Register at https://events.bhcarroll.edu/cbbl/20220919/event

Do you know someone with a “grievance story,” or feelings of unresolved hurt or anger because of something someone did—maybe even decades ago? Those feelings can result from real or perceived wounds and lead to negative consequences in relationships. This session considers the nature of grievance stories through the lens of Elijah’s experience in 1 Kings 18-19. One key method of helping clients address relational wounds is through the forgiveness process. Using Matthew 18:21-35, this session will then look at the nature of forgiveness—what it is, what it isn’t, and how to assist hurting clients to engage in the forgiveness process.
