Say hello šŸ‘‹šŸ½ to one of our primary therapist, Sarah Gammage-Ramm šŸ’”:

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate dedicated to supporting individuals through their healing journey. I work with adults and adolescents on issues including betrayal trauma, problematic s*xual behavior, relationship challenges, grief, loss, depression, anxiety, and other mental health concerns. My approach is rooted in empathy, respect, and the belief that healing happens in safe, supportive relationships.

Inspired by my own recovery, I earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Texas A&M University–Commerce. I’ve worked with clients facing trauma, PTSD, domestic violence, and more, using trauma-informed modalities such as Internal Family Systems and EMDR.

I hold certifications and training as a National Certified Counselor, CSAT, CCPS Candidate, Connected Recovery Disclosure Specialist, and EMDR-trained clinician.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based approach that helps the brain reprocess unhealed or distressing memories so they no longer have the same emotional charge.

Through bilateral stimulation—such as guided eye movements—EMDR works to reduce the intensity of trauma-related memories and supports the brain in filing them away in a more adaptive, less distressing way.

It is commonly used to address PTSD, anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, grief, and self-worth issues.
When the brain is able to reprocess these experiences, clients often report a greater sense of clarity, calm, and emotional resilience.

Intrusive thoughts can feel terrifying, irrational, or even shameful—but they’re not a reflection of who you are. šŸ’ā

According to the book Brain Lock by Dr. Jeffrey Schwartz, one of the most important steps in overcoming intrusive thoughts is recognizing that they’re a glitch in the brain—not a moral failure.

They’re unwanted, automatic, and anxiety-driven—and with the right tools, they can be rewired. 🧠✨

This post breaks down what intrusive thoughts are—and what they’re not—with clarity and compassion. You are not alone in this.

Trauma isn’t just a story we carry in our minds — it lives in the body.
⁣
When something overwhelming happens and we can’t fight, flee, or safely process the experience, the nervous system holds onto that energy. Over time, this can show up as anxiety, hypervigilance, dissociation, or chronic tension — even when the danger is long gone.⁣
⁣
Nervous system work isn’t about ā€œthinking your way out.ā€ It’s about gently listening to your body’s signals, completing survival responses, and reestablishing a felt sense of safety — at your own pace.⁣
⁣
šŸŒ€ Healing isn’t linear. It’s a return to connection.

Say hello šŸ‘‹šŸ½ to one of our primary therapist, Missy Overstreet šŸ’ƒšŸ¼:

The underlying components of codependency, self-destructive behaviors and addictions can stem from negative core beliefs that are deeply-rooted and eventually make our lives unbearable. These negative core beliefs are implanted in our brains making us believe thoughts such as, ā€œI am not good enoughā€, ā€œI am unlovableā€ and can eventually lead t0 troubled relationships, codependency, depression, anxiety, and addiction.Ā Ā

I have lived in Dallas for most of my life and graduated from The University of Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Communication in 1988. Therapy is my second career. For over ten years, I worked as a meeting and event planner. The challenges I faced with my own negative core belief system, eventually led me to recovery from addiction. My personal journey in recovery has allowed me to discover my own identity and has given me courage to follow my dreams. I received my Master of Social Work from The University of Texas at Arlington with an emphasis in Mental Health and Substance Abuse.Ā

My therapeutic approach is holistic and includes talk therapy, cognitive behavior therapy and solution focused therapy. I believe that successful therapy is built on a safe, accepting, and a mutually respectful, collaborative relationship. My areas of specialty are family of origin, attachment issues and trauma. My training includes work at the Center for Addiction and Recovery Studies and Origins Intensive Inpatient Program. I further enhanced my training by participating in Pia Mellody’s PIT workshop on trauma, family-of-origin, attachment, codependency, carried emotions and negative introjects, and concepts of love addiction and love avoidance. Using my training and my personal life experience, I will help you develop tools that will empower you to change your negative core beliefs, your thought process, and your behaviors. Everyone of us have the right to live our best lives that include self-awareness, purpose, and happiness.

Intimacy is more than just physical.
It’s about emotional presence, mutual respect, and feeling safe enough to be fully seen.

There are many ways we connect with others—through shared values, deep conversations, vulnerability, laughter, or quiet presence. When we reduce intimacy to only s*x, we overlook the richness of human connection.

If you’ve ever felt close to someone without touching them, you’ve experienced the depth of intimacy that goes beyond the physical.

Say hello šŸ‘‹šŸ½ to one our primary therapist, Juan ZambranošŸƒ:

I’m a licensed counselor specializing in addiction, trauma, anxiety, s*x addiction, codependency, and relationship issues. With over a decade of experience in mental health, I work from a depth-oriented, trauma-informed lens—helping clients explore the unconscious patterns that shape their behaviors, emotions, and relationships.

Life often pulls us in directions we never anticipated. When we’re met with overwhelming stress, loss, or trauma, it’s not uncommon for things to fall apart. But it’s also in those moments that we’re invited into something deeper: growth, transformation, and healing. I believe addiction is rarely just about behavior—it’s often a response to unresolved wounds, unmet needs, or internalized beliefs shaped early in life. By integrating analytical psychology, mindfulness, and somatic awareness, I support clients in uncovering the root causes of their struggles and reclaiming their sense of wholeness.

Born and raised in Dallas, I earned my BA in Psychology and MS in Counseling from Southern Methodist University. I’m also a Certified S*x Addiction Therapist, with clinical experience spanning outpatient addiction centers, psychiatric clinics, nonprofit spaces, and private practice. Alongside traditional talk therapy, I integrate Eastern and Western modalities—from trauma-focused approaches to yoga, meditation, and nervous system regulation—to create a holistic path toward emotional integration.

My approach is grounded, collaborative, and intuitive. Whether you’re navigating depression, anxiety, relationship stress, or the weight of childhood conditioning, I meet you where you are—with compassion and curiosity. This work takes courage. It asks us to examine what we’ve outgrown, unlearn old patterns, and move toward the unknown with intention.

Ever stayed quiet just to avoid conflict?

Silence can feel safer — especially when we’ve been taught that speaking up might lead to conflict, rejection, or disconnection.

In codependent patterns, we often stay quiet to keep the peace, protect others’ emotions, or preserve the relationship. In couples, we avoid hard conversations, thinking it will help. But what builds up unspoken often becomes resentment, distance, or emotional shutdown.

The long-term cost of silence is often greater than the short-term discomfort of speaking up.
Your voice matters — in your healing, in your relationships, and in your life.

Therapy offers a space to practice using your voice with clarity, compassion, and confidence. Whether you’re navigating codependency, communication challenges in your partnership, or simply learning to reconnect with your needs — you don’t have to do it alone.

✨ You are allowed to take up space.
✨ You are allowed to speak your truth — even when your voice shakes.
✨ You are allowed to grow toward connection, not away from it.

Many of the patterns that cause us pain are rooted in unconscious beliefs, memories, and survival strategies developed long before we were aware of them.

Therapy helps bring those hidden processes to light—so they no longer quietly direct our decisions, relationships, or sense of self.

At Bluffview Counseling, we work to make the unconscious conscious—creating space for choice, healing, and change.

Say hello šŸ‘‹šŸ½ to one of our primary therapist, Jon Juhlin šŸ¦‰:

Recovery isn’t just about the individual—it impacts the whole family system. I believe families heal together. That’s why my work centers on supporting both recovering addicts and their loved ones, in individual and group settings. As healing deepens, issues like trauma, grief, loss, depression, and codependency often rise to the surface. These are the moments where therapy can make all the difference.

I was raised in Abilene, TX, and after earning my degree in Communications from SMU, I spent years in the entertainment industry. But after facing my own personal challenges, I began a journey of recovery and self-discovery—one that reshaped my path completely. I came to understand that recovery is a lifelong process, not just for the individual but for the entire family.

In 2011, I chose to dedicate my professional life to helping others navigate that same process. I returned to SMU to earn my Master’s in Counseling and began my work in the mental health field.

Today, I’m proud to be part of Bluffview Counseling and honored to help carry forward the vision of our founder—supporting individuals and families as they heal together.

^ That’s Jon!

We often treat boredom like something to escape.
But what if boredom isn’t a problem—what if it’s a signal?

Boredom can mean emotional under-stimulation, misalignment with values, or simply that your nervous system is tired.
Instead of numbing out or pushing through, try pausing. Listening.
It might be the doorway to something deeper

If you’re curious about what your boredom might be trying to tell you, our therapists can help you explore it with care and insight.
