Ms. Velma joined us for a respite stay, giving her family a chance to travel, attend events, and take a well-deserved break from caregiving. Respite care is a service we’re proud to offer our community when families need a little extra support.

Before heading home, our activities team and volunteers set up a special “store” so Velma could spend her Bingo winnings. It was a sweet moment and a fun way to wrap up her stay. We loved having her with us! ❣️

Long Term Care Administrators Week is a time to recognize the leaders who keep everything moving behind the scenes. From supporting staff and families to navigating regulations, problem-solving, and making sure residents feel safe and cared for, their role truly touches every part of the community.

LaDonna Burns, Nursing Home Administrator at Dallastown Nursing Center, describes the role as being “like the captain of a very busy ship” — balancing healthcare, hospitality, leadership, and teamwork every single day. What she values most is the incredible team around her and the compassion they show residents and one another.

Holly Layne, Personal Care Home Administrator at Victoria Villa, says the best moments are the simple ones — walking through the building and seeing residents laughing during an activity, sharing a meal, or telling stories. Those moments are a reminder of why this work matters.
