Wow, 2021 was a record breaking Motorcycle Training year for me. Even after taking almost 10 weeks off traveling around in our RV on several trips, I still managed to facilitate 52 classes working with 15 different coaches (not including the 12 solo coach classes). Since I began in 2006, I have coached 499 classes not including 29 IME's (2 hour intro experience). Over the years I have worked with 87 coaches. I was fortunate enough to work with 457 students last year bringing my lifetime number to 4,785. Of those, 421 passed (97.2%) with 24 incomplete for 2021. Lifetime is 4,404 passed (96.5%) with 223 incomplete. All of those classes last year were conducted at the MSF Campus in Alpharetta and Southern Devil Harley Davidson in Cartersville. Most of the classes, of course, were the Basic RiderCourse updated (BRCu) and Harley Davidson New Rider Course (37 and 8 respectively). I did, however coach 5 Basic RiderCourse2 updated (BRC2u) and 2 Advanced RiderCourses (ARC).
Whew! That was a lot!

RiderCoach year in review:
Even though Kathy and I traveled in our Fifth Wheel Trailer a good bit in 2018, I still managed to facilitate a record number of motorcycle safety classes (for me since I started in 2006). I finished up the year with 28-Basic RiderCourses (updated), 3-HD New Rider Courses (updated), 5-Advanced RiderCourses, 4-Basic RiderCourse2 (updated) and 3-Introductory Motorcycle Experience (IME) for a total of 43 classes. I had the distinct pleasure of working with 13 different Coaches at two top notch facilities. For all of these classes we started out with 351 students. Of those, 18 did not complete for a variety of reasons. For the remaining 333 students, 305 passed (or completed if it was not a license waiver class). That’s a 91.6% pass rate for 2018 and a 96.2% lifetime rate. Average class size was 8.2 students (12 maximum is generally allowed). This number is less than it has been likely caused by lower class sizes mandated for Solo classes (5 total classes) and IME classes (3 total classes). Although there were 38 dropped motorcycles (0.11 per student/0.88 per class), no serious injuries occurred. The number of drops is lower than it has been, suggesting that the new, updated curriculum is working well. I look forward to an even better year for 2019

Another good year for me as a RiderCoach. I will finish up the year facilitating 23 Basic RiderCourses, 2 HD New RiderCourses, 8 Advanced RiderCourses and 6 Introductory Motorcycle Experience for a total of 39 classes. This is net of 3 cancellations (1 for CapeFox, 1 for MSF and 1 for Hellbender HD). For all of these classes we started out with 347 students. Of those, 14 did not complete for one reason or another and 7 were not successful at the end of class. That’s a 97.9% pass rate which means that 326 people have a much better idea on how to be safer while riding a motorcycle. Average class size was 9.4 students. Although there were 48 dropped motorcycles (0.14 per student/1.35 per class), no serious injuries occurred, some close calls but everyone was ok. I have amassed 12,563 miles, over 4 different motorcycles, for Motorcycle Training purposes for 2015. I look forward to an even better year for 2016.
