Eggceptional Fertility was founded on the goal of helping create families. Over the years, we have established a diverse group of accomplished donors and surrogates. We pride ourselves on providing an exceptional level of care and support to our donors, surrogates, and intended parents. We fully understand the joys and challenges that are part of this journey, and we value the generous contribution of our donors and surrogates. Founded in 2008 as Eggceptional Donor Group, we later developed Eggceptional Surrogates at our clients’ request, expanding our services to include surrogacy for our domestic and international intended parents. With our continued growth we have decided to join both companies and emerge as Eggceptional Fertility, allowing us to utilize our expertise and resources to provide an even better personal experience for our clients.

How Do I Tell My Employer I’m a Surrogate? 💼🤰

If you’re pursuing surrogacy while working, it’s completely normal to wonder when — and how — to tell your boss. Unlike egg donation, surrogacy eventually becomes visible, and you’ll need time to recover after delivery. The good news? Federal labor laws protect pregnant employees — including surrogates.

✨ Do I have to tell my employer I’m a surrogate?
You’re not obligated to share your private medical decisions. However, if you plan to take maternity leave, you will need to inform your employer that you’re pregnant. Whether you disclose that you’re a surrogate is entirely up to you.

If you choose to share, keep it simple:
• “I’m carrying a baby for another family.”
• “I’m a surrogate.”

You do NOT have to discuss your agreement, compensation, or the intended parents. If asked for details, it’s okay to say, “My contract doesn’t allow me to share that information.”

✨ When should I tell my boss?
There are two common approaches:
• Before pregnancy — after matching, so they understand upcoming appointments.
• After confirmation — many wait until pregnancy is confirmed or after the 20-week ultrasound for privacy.

At minimum, federal law requires 30 days’ notice to take maternity leave.

✨ Do surrogates get maternity leave?
Yes. Under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), eligible employees can receive up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave.
✔ Your job must remain available when you return.
✔ Your health insurance continues during leave.
✔ Some employers offer paid leave — check your company’s policy.
✔ If unpaid, lost wages should be addressed in your surrogacy contract.

Many surrogates return to work around 3–4 weeks postpartum, since they are not caring for a newborn — but always listen to your body first.

💛 How Many Times Can I Donate with Eggceptional Fertility? 💛

Great question!

Egg donors may participate in the donation process up to six times total. Rematching for additional cycles is possible only if your previous donation resulted in a pregnancy or a successful retrieval.

Your health, safety, and well-being are always our highest priority. Each cycle is carefully reviewed, and we ensure appropriate time between donations so your body can rest and recover.

Our donors are truly special young women that exemplify both the physical and character traits any couple wishing to have a child would want. Just one look at our database and you’ll see what we mean. The Eggceptional Donor Group understands that the overall health and well being of our donors is key to a successful donation. Each of our donors goes through an extensive screening process. This ensures a smooth and efficient donation and provides the intended parents with the comfort and security to move forward.
