Four foods that hide extra sugar:
1. cereal - aim for 12 grams or less per serving
2. yogurt - try plain and add your own fruit, cinnamon or nutmeg
3. condiments - ketchup, BBQ sauce, salad dressings all contain sugars that add up!
4. beverages - drinking sweet, carbonated beverages increases risk of coronary artery disease!

On the ingredients list of your food, these words indicate added sugars:
~anything syrup
~words ending in "ose" (fructose, sucrose, maltose, dextrose)
~juice concentrates
~anything with the word sugar attached.

Healthy blood sugar numbers are important even if you aren't diabetic!
