If you don't know this sweet spot, let us introduce you! This is one of our favorite small businesses in Pemaquid/the whole world, The Good Supply. This is the place to go to shop for thoughtful and fun gifts, housewares, and art, most of which is made by Maine artisans.
One of the reasons they are our favorite is their consistent love for their community. Right now, they are partnering with us on our Ending Summer on a Full Note Food Drive. Drop off extras from your pantry in the gray bins outside the barn, or see our last post on what goes into an Emergency Food Bag. If you provide one of those bags, Good Supply staff will give you a gift certificate for Oxbow in Newcastle, another generous partner!
So make sure that when you do your pantry clean-out, or if you feel inspired to shop for community members in need, head to the barn to donate and enjoy a little end-of-summer shopping at the same time.

FOOD DRIVE - Hey Lincoln County, Community Nourishment Sarah here. Hopefully, by now, you've seen a flyer or two around town with all the food drive details - recommended donations, emergency food bags, meal kits, drop-off locations, and more. Swipe through the photos if you need another look!

OXBOW BREWING - Oxbow has not only offered space for our drive, but they're offering $25 gift cards for each emergency food bag you donate. We walked through the process on Friday (thank you to the friendly Oxbow employee who did it with us) to show you how it's done. Very easy, very fun, very cool! Thank you, Oxbow!

Today we remember and celebrate all those loved ones--family members, friends, neighbors, fellow humans--who have lost their lives in the struggle with substance use disorder. Too many are still dying, and too many are still living with the shame and the stigma that happens when we struggle with addiction or when a loved one is lost to overdose. We also recognize that harm reduction and prevention work, that we can do more to stem the tide of this crisis. Today we pause in remembrance and love. Then we get back to work.

Tomorrow is ! It is a time to honor and grieve those we have lost to overdose. It is also a time to take action. We can all make a difference by familiarizing ourselves with naloxone, a life-saving first aid medication that is safe and easy for anyone to use. Healthy Lincoln County routinely provides free naloxone and naloxone training in community settings. Reach out to Will to schedule a training for your family or your team, or just to get a free kit you can keep on hand.

Human beings are connected to their environment, and to the other people around them. Substance Use isn't just an individual choice. It is the result of policies made by governments and organizations, it is the result of both lived and generational traumas, it reverberates through families and communities. When one person dies, we are all affected. When we choose to act together, we can change our environment for the better and keep each other safe. Let's work together to make overdose a thing of the past.
