Your anxiety is real.
I start there because most of you have spent years being told racing thoughts, tightness in your chest and the exhaustion that doesnāt go away with sleep are something youāre imagining or something you can think your way out of.
š Youāre not imagining any of it.
š Your nervous system is genuinely activated and it has been for a long time.
But the reason it stays activated isnāt always the reason youāve been told.
š§ Most people are working on their anxiety from the top down:
- journaling
- meditation
- the parts work
- cognitive reframes
That work is important and has its place, but people can stay in this work for years feeling a little relief or learning how to manage/ function but there is something missingā¦
ā”ļø The piece that almost nobody is talking about is whatās happening in the body underneath all of those thoughts.
š« When your diaphragm hasnāt moved fully in years, your ribs canāt expand the way they were designed to, which means your breath stays shallow no matter how many times youāre told to take a deep one.
This stuck breath reads as threat, regardless of whatās actually happening in your life.
If you feel the inner work feels slow or not accessible, itās because your body has been holding a defensive shape for so long it forgot there was another option.
No matter how long youāve been in this loop, your brain and body have an incredible ability to heal and improve.
