At some point you realize you’re chasing what used to feel normal.

What used to be a full week turns into energy conservation, plans turns into managing flare-ups, living turns into doing all the right things just to feel baseline.

The difference between the women who feel amazing and the women who spend the weekend recovering just to try again Monday isn’t willpower.

It isn’t more discipline or a better protocol.

It’s that one is rewiring her brain while shifting her body out of survival mode at the same time.

The other is trying to think her way out of architecture that’s still running the show.

You can’t think your way out of a body that’s stuck in SYMPATHETIC DOMINANCE.

You have to change the structure that built the alarm in the first place:
- diaphragm
- fascia
- posture
- breath
- neural patterns the brain has been firing for so long it forgot any other version of you was possible.

She’s still in there. The version of you that wasn’t bracing. Whose body wasn’t conserving and whose week wasn’t a recovery cycle.

You don’t get back to her by trying harder. You get back to her by changing what’s underneath.

This is why I created Brain Body Breath.

Most people come to me throwing things at a body that’s stuck in sympathetic dominance.

Supplements, hormone replacement therapy, peptides, the somatic shaking, anti-inflammatory diets…

šŸ‘‰none of it can reach a diaphragm that won’t move and fascia that’s been bracing for years.

A body that’s compressed can’t access regulation. It has to be unwound first.

That’s the layer I work in.

Your anxiety is real.

I start there because most of you have spent years being told racing thoughts, tightness in your chest and the exhaustion that doesn’t go away with sleep are something you’re imagining or something you can think your way out of.

šŸ‘‰ You’re not imagining any of it.
šŸ‘‰ Your nervous system is genuinely activated and it has been for a long time.

But the reason it stays activated isn’t always the reason you’ve been told.

🧠 Most people are working on their anxiety from the top down:
- journaling
- meditation
- the parts work
- cognitive reframes

That work is important and has its place, but people can stay in this work for years feeling a little relief or learning how to manage/ function but there is something missing…

āž”ļø The piece that almost nobody is talking about is what’s happening in the body underneath all of those thoughts.

🫁 When your diaphragm hasn’t moved fully in years, your ribs can’t expand the way they were designed to, which means your breath stays shallow no matter how many times you’re told to take a deep one.

This stuck breath reads as threat, regardless of what’s actually happening in your life.

If you feel the inner work feels slow or not accessible, it’s because your body has been holding a defensive shape for so long it forgot there was another option.

No matter how long you’ve been in this loop, your brain and body have an incredible ability to heal and improve.

When pain or emotions are triggered we are faced with 2 choices:

1. Retreat
2. Progress

Retreating can take on different forms but is an attempt to feel safe when triggered. It’s hard wired in your survival response.

āž”ļø Seeking CONTROL when triggered in ourselves or the people around us in order to protect and create safety.
āž”ļø Retreat can also look like coping stress activities- mindless IG scrolling, checking phone, drinking, overeating.

🧠PROGRESS requires going inward to create safety.

āž”ļø Breaking the cycle of living trigger to trigger.
āž”ļøEach signal or trigger is an invitation to heal our unregulated/ unresolved parts.

🌈Awareness is the first step, the second step is making a choice.

Which one do you feel the most, did I miss any?

The last one was HUGE for me..my bestie nicknamed me ā€œHarmonious Helenā€.
āž”ļø I hope I still sprinkle harmony everywhere I go, but from a position of wanting to and NOT NEEDING to.

šŸ˜” Appeasing and needing to fix situations, surrounding and problems is a STATE OF STRESS because you literally cannot take on any more stress you try to keep things ā€œgoodā€. AKA ( the perfect condition)

šŸ¤°šŸ½The Whole Foods story is a real patient story, ugh the worst looking..feeling pregnant and then ruminating about the awkwardness of the congratulations.

Healing your nervous system feels as comforting T+T embrace.

Love finding and unraveling inner workings to heal and prevent pain from reoccurring.

Stepping out of this trap is such a BIG one.

🧠 Our inner narrator guides us to keep us safe, but sometimes, it can keep us stuck in a loop of pain and chaos.

I’ll feel better when:

….I am financially secure
…in a better relationship
…have more time

When we give those stories too much power you repeat the same cycle over and over again.ā¤ļøā€šŸ©¹

… keeps the inflammation faucet open showing up in different systems.

🤯 so wild!

…you can constantly improve your brain body communication and step out of these traps.
