Since launching our partnership with CalHOPE, we’ve connected with hundreds of individuals through their live chat platform—offering compassion, guidance, and hope when it matters most.

In 2025 alone, our AlterCareLine counselors engaged in encounters totaling over 260 hours of meaningful support. And most remarkably—94% of help seekers reported being satisfied with their experience.

That number isn’t just a metric—it’s a testament to what’s possible when you invest in excellence from the very beginning. Every AlterCareLine counselor was certified through Care Predictor prior to hiring, ensuring our team was equipped with the empathy, trustworthiness, and human connection needed to meet people in their most vulnerable moments.

10,000+ No-Cost Encounters of Care and Counting in only 81 days!

In the wake of the devastating LA Fires, the emotional and physical toll on our community has been immense. At AlterCareLine, we knew the need for support would be great — and our Crisis Counselors rose to meet that need with heart, presence, and unwavering dedication!

Today, we humbly share that in only 81 days since the disaster, we have surpassed 10,000 encounters — through community outreach and online support — offering care, comfort, and connection to those who needed it most!

This milestone is more than a number. It’s a testament to the power of human connection, the importance of showing up, and our commitment to be there — during the crisis, and beyond it.

We are grateful to partner with the California Department of Social Services, whose support has empowered our dedicated teams to mobilize, connect, and respond with compassion and effectiveness when it’s needed most.

We are deeply thankful to our team and our community partners. And we are not stopping here. The momentum continues!

AlterCareLine: Supporting Communities in Crisis

Through the Crisis Counseling Program, we’ve had the honor of providing no-cost mental healthcare to those impacted by recent disasters. This program is built on the belief that in times of crisis, accessible, compassionate support is essential. We are deeply grateful for the commitment, compassion and trust from the Crisis Counseling Program-LA Fires Team at the California Department of Social Services, and the San Diego Team at the California Department of Health Care Services - allowing us to extend care across California and create opportunities to help people that have been impacted, and in need of mental health services.

Our YTD 2025 encounters are a testament to our impact - and this is only the beginning!

In Los Angeles: Within only 59 days, our team has provided 7,150 encounters of care, offering crucial support to individuals affected by the devastating LA Fires.

In San Diego: In the wake of the January 2024 floods, we’ve been there for residents navigating the emotional and psychological aftermath, with 3,039 encounters of care.

Our mission is simple: No one should face a crisis alone. If you or someone you know needs support, AlterCareLine is here.

We are deeply grateful for our team and the opportunity to serve. Providing help when it’s needed most is one of the most honorable and service-oriented acts we can do. Crisis Counselors Are Making an Impact in LA!

We are incredibly proud to share that our AlterCareLine Crisis Counselors completed their training on January 30 and have been on the ground in Los Angeles since February 1! The team has reached over 800 encounters with residents, offering no-cost emotional support and connecting individuals with vital resources in the wake of the recent Los Angeles wildfires.

💙 What You Need to Know:
The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) has announced that anyone impacted by the recent Los Angeles wildfires is eligible for free, in-person crisis counseling services. Our AlterCareLine Crisis Counselors are attending local events, shelters, and Disaster Recovery Centers throughout Los Angeles County to provide emotional support and connections to external resources for long-term recovery.

“Angelenos are going to need time to heal from these devastating wildfires, and this free counseling is a resource to help people as they begin that process,” said CDSS Director Jennifer T***a.

“We are fully committed to leveraging our resources and compassionate approach to bring comfort and hope to those affected by these tragic fires,” added Joy Hinshilwood, Program Manager at AlterCareLine.

In addition to crisis counseling, Disaster Recovery Centers can connect eligible individuals with food benefits, health services, unemployment and disability benefits, and more.

Honoring Black History Month at AlterCareLine

This February, we pause to recognize Black History Month and the 2025 theme: "African Americans and Labor." This theme highlights the vital role of Black Americans in shaping the labor movement and the ongoing fight for fair treatment, equal opportunities, and dignity in the workplace. From the historic struggles for freedom to modern-day efforts for workplace equality, Black Americans have always been at the forefront of change and progress.

At AlterCareLine, we’re inspired by the resilience and strength of Black history. Our mission to provide compassionate support and care is deeply aligned with the commitment to advocacy and justice that has been passed down through generations. As we honor this month, we remain dedicated to fostering an environment where everyone, regardless of their background, has access to the mental health care and resources they need to live their fullest life.

We are proud to announce that AlterCareLine has been officially appointed by the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) to manage the provision of crisis counseling services to victims of the recent LA County wildfires. As a contractor for the CDSS and a partner of the Crisis Counseling Program (CCP), we are honored to be tasked with overseeing this critical initiative.

Beginning February 1st, our trained counselors will be offering in-person care services to individuals and families in and around the affected burn areas. These services include conducting outreach, providing crisis counseling, and connecting survivors with external resources that will assist with long-term recovery.

AlterCareLine's team of crisis counselors is committed to providing empathy and emotional support to survivors during this challenging time. We look forward to making a meaningful difference in their recovery process and working alongside the community to facilitate hope and lasting healing.

The recent LA wildfires have left countless lives forever changed. Families are displaced, and communities need hope, compassion, and support to rebuild.

As a Crisis Support Counselor, you’ll be on the front lines, providing emotional support, resources, and guidance to help individuals and families recover. This is your opportunity to make a profound difference in the lives of those affected.

Key Responsibilities:
Conduct outreach and provide support to individuals and families impacted by the wildfires.

Offer emotional support and crisis counseling to help communities cope and rebuild.

Connect survivors with resources and longer-term services to support their recovery.

Calling All Volunteers: Los Angeles Needs Your Help!

The devastating fires in Los Angeles continue to destroy landmarks, homes, and entire communities. Thousands of people are left without shelter, safety, and access to basic needs. It’s a heartbreaking reality we cannot ignore.

At AlterCareLine, we are stepping in to help in every way we can—but we need YOUR support. Together, we can bring relief, hope, and action to those affected by this tragedy.

Over the years, AlterCareLine has provided approximately 250,000 encounters of care at no cost, standing by communities through the Santa Barbara and Santa Cruz mudslides and the devastating flooding in San Diego County. Now, Los Angeles needs us all more than ever.
