Calling All Volunteers: Los Angeles Needs Your Help!

The devastating fires in Los Angeles continue to destroy landmarks, homes, and entire communities. Thousands of people are left without shelter, safety, and access to basic needs. It’s a heartbreaking reality we cannot ignore.

At AlterCareLine, we are stepping in to help in every way we can—but we need YOUR support. Together, we can bring relief, hope, and action to those affected by this tragedy.

Over the years, AlterCareLine has provided approximately 250,000 encounters of care at no cost, standing by communities through the Santa Barbara and Santa Cruz mudslides and the devastating flooding in San Diego County. Now, Los Angeles needs us all more than ever.

We’re calling for volunteers!

We urgently need peer counselors to work the chat and call line, covering two shifts. Your time and compassion can make an incredible difference for those seeking support in their darkest moments.

VOLUNTEER TODAY: https://lnkd.in/gS7sytBg

Let’s take action now. This is our moment to unite, show our love for humanity, and be the light in someone’s darkest hour.

Together, we are stronger. Together, we can make a difference.

It’s estimated that 37.9% of adults in the United States who struggle with addiction also have a mental illness. When this happens, it’s known as co-occurring disorders. Often, struggling with addiction and a mental health illness at the same time doesn’t mean that one caused the other. It also can be challenging to figure out which one came first. However, what can’t be denied is that you can’t properly treat either condition without addressing the other.

“Frustrated by out-of-control increases in drug overdose deaths, California's leaders are trying something radical: They want the state to be the first to pay people to stay sober.”

💭 Addiction can come in different forms, however, solving an issue like this won’t be resolved with accepting money. It will require an internal change from within. Sobriety is possible if you accept the past and be present for each day that is given.

California may become the first state to pay drug addicts to stay sober.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 4 in 10 adults reported experiencing symptoms of anxiety or depression during the pandemic. This is a 400 percent increase to rates prior to the global outbreak, and far too few of these people are finding help.

In California, FEMA has partnered with Alter Health Group to create the BeWellLine, a free counseling service where residents can receive emotional support over the phone or a virtual chat.

“Even outside of prisons and jails, drug overdose deaths are at historic levels, according to federal data released on Wednesday. Last year, the nationwide death toll increased by nearly 30% from 2019. The devastating trend was driven by opioids, primarily illegal fentanyl.”

📈This is devastatingly true and how we can change this statistic is by holding big pharmaceutical companies accountable, spreading awareness throughout our communities and sharing our experiences through the message of recovery.

Deaths from drugs and alcohol have increased by more than 600% in state prisons in the last two decades, giving lie to the idea that sending addicts to prison can help them stop using.

“It’s uncommon for prosecutors to bring murder charges against individuals suspected of dealing drugs in fatal fentanyl cases. The case against Brian Anaya-Esquivel, 18, of Pomona, appears to be among the first of its kind in San Bernardino County amid a growing number of drug-related deaths across the United States.”

💊 Accountability will need to be the approach for all drug dealing cases. A tragic story that is continually happening across the Nation.

It is uncommon for prosecutors to bring murder charges against individuals suspected of dealing drugs in fatal fentanyl cases.
