Walking can help with joint pain, including arthritis.
It doesn't have to be intense - just consistent.

That “hip pain” you’re feeling? It might not actually be coming from your hip joint.
I see this all the time—patients come in thinking it’s arthritis, but the location of the pain often tells a different story:
• Groin pain → often the hip joint
• Outside of the hip → usually bursa or tendon
• Buttock pain → can be coming from your back
There can be overlap, which is why a proper evaluation matters.
If you’re not sure what’s causing your pain, I’m now offering virtual visits where we can talk through your symptoms and review imaging—without you needing to come into the office first.

Pain control after knee replacement has changed—significantly.

We no longer rely on just one method. Instead, we use a multimodal approach: combining medications, targeted injections, refined surgical techniques, and recovery strategies like ice and early movement.

Each piece works differently. Together, they make recovery more comfortable and less dependent on opioids.

This is a big part of why recovery today feels very different than it did 10–15 years ago.

Not all cartilage damage is the same — and not every knee is a candidate for MACI.

MACI is designed for focal defects, not arthritis.

Once the cartilage is thinning over a broader area, the environment just isn’t right for those new cells to thrive.

Understanding what’s really happening in your knee is the first step to the right treatment.

Ask your orthopedic surgeon if your pain is from a focal defect or arthritis.

What is this “plastic” piece in a knee replacement?
It’s called polyethylene—and it’s what allows the joint to move smoothly.
Not all of them are the same.
Some are designed to replace a ligament (PCL), while others work with your natural ligament.
These are two common examples—and the choice depends on your anatomy and stability.
