As this week comes to an end, FCA wants to take time to recognize and honor the extraordinary nurses who are such an essential part of our healthcare community, especially in the field of mental health.

We especially want to recognize the incredible nurses on our team who every day bring compassion, patience, and deep expertise to the children, adults and families we serve, who are often navigating some of the most challenging moments of their lives. 💚 May is Mental Health Awareness Month 💚

This month is dedicated to raising awareness, breaking the stigma, and reminding everyone that you are not alone.

It is important to know the resources available if you or someone you know is struggling. If you or a loved one are experiencing a mental health emergency or need support, please contact the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline at 988. For essential community services and crisis intervention, 211 is also there to help. There are also organizations such as FCA that offer therapeutic support in your time of need.

Seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. 💚

As this month comes to a close, we want to take a moment to recognize Child Abuse Prevention Month. To help raise awareness, FCA placed blue pinwheels around our site, and staff across all locations wore blue in support of this important cause.

Prevention starts with awareness and compassion. By staying informed, supporting families, and looking out for one another, we can all play a part in creating safer, stronger communities.

Yesterday, Ridgefield Thrift Shop hosted their Grants Reception and we at Family & Children's Aid were honored to join. RTS has been such a huge supporter of our organization over the years. We are beyond grateful to them and their continued dedication to the community. Thank you to RTS for supporting our Harmony House Shelter for Families with this grant.

Yesterday marked a meaningful milestone as FCA celebrated the ribbon-cutting ceremony for our Harmony House Shelter for Families, a space dedicated to serving and supporting homeless families in our community.

We are incredibly grateful to all the legislators who took the time to attend and show their support. A special thank you to Mayor Roberto Alves, former Waterbury Mayor Neil O'Leary, and DOH Commissioner Seila Mosquera-Bruno for being part of this important moment.

Together, we are taking a powerful step toward providing hope, stability, and a brighter future for families in need.
